so my brother has a xbox one but no computer, i play on pc usually on the original version of minecraft, but i hear the windows 10 version can play with friends who are on xbox one. how do i connect with my brother who owns a xbox one, or how do i have him connect to my server?
well yes but my brother who owns a xbox one plays on xbox live and it says i can play with xbox live players, so am i confused here it says we can play with xbox live players so how do we connect with live players?
you're brother has the console version of minecraft. The new features with the bullet point of play with xbox live friends is referring to the fact that in windows 10, there's an xbox live app and you have to sign up for an account, if you don't have one, to play with other players who play mcwin10. That's the multiplayer aspect. I didn't have a xbox live account until i started playing mcwin10.
"well yes but my brother who owns a xbox one plays on xbox live and it says i can play with xbox live players".... and the next part that would avoid a lot of confusion is "if you're both playing the same or compatible games".
For instance, even both Xbox 360 and Xbox One can and do use Xbox Live- but they're not the same versions of MC and can't play together.

Sorry, you can't.
As it stands (there might, and I mean might, be a change, but not anytime soon).
Win10 can only play with PE players.
Consoles = console only.
Java = java only. (Java version players will always only be able to play with other java players).
guess i was wrong i just totally thought i heard that somewhere, o well. thanks
wait so was the friendly update a fake update? because thats where i read that we can play with xbox live players
heres the features list, i highlighted the part that says we can play with xbox live players

You aren't the only one that get's confused because "Xbox" is in the title of both Xbox Live and the Xbox consoles.
One is a server service, the other a console.
Two totally different things.

No problem. Hopefully, your brother can get a computer and you both can play on mcwin10.
