Instant downward signal and invisible signs were two tricks I came up with awhile back that were completely ignored. I have a feeling that my map might change that.

I always use your sign trick it has done me so much good. I have thanked you multiple times.
really, how? I've used the old water block + torch + sand-with-a-sign attached method.
the water block picks up the update.
Anyway, not sure if people have discovered this one, but MUSHROOM SIGNALS, which appear to be conditional- the light level must be high for it to work.
place mushrooms with a terrain editor (technically you can use any "dependent block" like a door or a torch to make a signal using a terrain editor ).
I thought about the mushroom thing, but I couldn't really think of a practical application, since I couldn't get it to go anywhere but on a single plane. Sure it's fast, but it can be done through other means.

I place sign directly on top of the water, works wonders (I use mods extensively for my redstone set up)
I would pay for the original entity.dat - it would be the ultimate cheat code XD

I would love to join plus I have a server that is 24/7 with plenty of plugins. iDevice needs to be jailbroken to join!
