Even though it's staged, I still love it. I started watching it when the 17th episode of the first season came out. I still watch their videos all the time :biggrin.gif:
Yogscast is definitely one of the best videos about Minecraft, but all of you people who say its completely staged, well, I don't know what you're thinking. It IS staged, to a point, definitely, but in no way entirely. If I had to guess, I would say they the following.
Improv
They have a basic idea of what is going on, like they know when and where big events will happen, or when and where to make them happen, but they don't technically have a script, meaning all of their lines and actions, unless very important, are made up on the spot. This technique, if used, is likely in episodes such as the Wizard Burgmund (the creator of whom I believe I have met on a server) and Professor Grizwald. It is also possible that they actually are playing these for the first time and recording them in case they are good.
Others make the situation
This seems to be the common belief for how they make the Shadow of Ispharel series. In fact, it is apparently the truth. Obviously, the characters other than Lewis and Simon are almost completely staged. They provide the story for Simon and Lewis to follow. What apparently happened is that the two let some others think up a story and make a map to become the setting for an RPG. Then, Simon and Lewis got a call to log on. What followed and continues is the Shadow of Ispharel.

The world will end in 2012 when Majora's Mask comes to life in 3D and latches on to the moon.

About that rule 1 of your,
YOugcast seriers are a "lets play" that menas they god damn play
A "how to play" is where they now everything, personly i hate "how to" series because people there often speaks in a bored vooice, just saying " do that, then you do that, then you keep on and do that"
while a lets play is much more fun because they have no idea, they test, they get suprised an butt kicked(something that is awsome to watch xD)
so plz shut up,if not ill send a in your mailbox xD
I love this series because it never really gets old. It is defiantly staged but its hard to tell if Simon and Lewis know all of what is going on or if they just have people make the story and they learn it as they go. But either way it is a amazing series.

A wild Rick Astley has appeared!
Go Youtuber!
Rick Astley uses rick roll!
It's super effective!
Youtuber faints.
Like others have said, staged or not, the guys still manage to the story funny and interesting, which is why I keep coming back. Just like their custom mp and game mod vids.
Yogscast and Coe'sQuest are really the only let's plays I follow regularly.
While they certainly are humorous, Lewis (Xephos, the one who records everything) is so horribly bad at the game the I feel ashamed to watch them. He places torches inefficiently, he doesn't do combat very well (despite the fact that the only thing you have to do is hold down L-click), he doesn't stack his items efficiently (at least, in early episodes), his mining tactics (at least, what little we've seen of them, seeing as stopped playing the actual game about half-way through the first "season" of the show) and he builds inefficiently, which was made very clear between episodes 15 and 16. His typing style also bothers me; the only punctuation he uses is exclamation points.
I watch mostly for the entertaining chat that they maintain while on camera. It makes me smile no matter how many times I hear it.
Someone said above about the banter they do. And i love that.
Simon and Lewis make the best banter together, the only people who i heard that made me laugh as much as they did were Co-host 3000 and Corey. (Google them!)
I love their podcasts, and even though i'm a little irked that they are been delaying the mincraft vids, i am thoroughly enjoying their Portal 2 Videos. :biggrin.gif:
And this thing is staged, but Simon and Lewis either don't know anything, or try hard to give impression of not knowing.
I really don't think there trying hard, I've seen better acting from Keanu Reeves. Still, an amazing series, one of the few i watch on Youtube. What will they find in the Nether?

Israphel is an actor, along with everyone else on the server. Everything is staged, their reactions, what they need to do, EVERYTHING.

Why you mad bro?
You can visit their site here:

However unless you have a well-made adventure map, then they probably won't even give it a second look.
