Hello everyone, I would like to start off by saying thank you for reading my topic. I have a problem with my bukkit server that I have spent literally a week trying to figure out, but the solution is evading me.
Basically, I run a bukkit server for some of my friends, but they've been complaining about not being able to place lava or place TNT or use lighters, which I obviously want to allow. OPs (Owners, actually, since I run groupmanager) could use these items, however, with a warning from the console which I will get into later. The plugin that I thought could be the cause of this was worldguard, so I made a backup of the server and deleted the plugin, but even after that, non-OPs only gained the use of flint and steel. This is really bothering me, and I've tried every suggestion, such as blacklisting the items and then making an ignore permission node to distribute, or simply editing configs, but, again, there was no dice.
I also have essentials, but I allowed everything there, so it doesn't seem to be the problem. (Perhaps there's a permission node to allow placement of lava and TNT?)
This is the basic structure of the log I get from the console when placing lava and TNT with OP on:
(server time) WARNING (username) used/placed tnt/lava_bucket at (servername) (coordinates)
Thanks in advanced for any help that you can offer. If you need aditional information, please leave a comment.
If I remember correctly this is actually a setting in essentials, if you go into your config.yml, scroll down for the line of blacklist. should look like this:
#Which blocks should people be prevented from placing
#which items should people be prevented from using
#which blocks should people be prevented from breaking
#which blocks should not be pushed by pistons
Now Id's 10 and 11 are lava, 46 is TNT and 327 is a lava bucket, so just remove 10, 11, and 46 or all of them if you like.
Hope this helps.

In addition to the block placement, there's a whole section in the Essentials configuration that protects players from doing dumb things. It prevents lava from flowing, mobs from spawning, etc. I had to go through that entire section and turn it all off. I'm not sure why the config defaults to such non-vanilla behavior. I mean really, if players are going to pour lava on their heads, you should let them die.
