Only recently done the update, and since then Minecraft wont open at all? When clicking on the icon it shows it is loading for about 2 seconds then nothing happens, what's the problem?
Thanks in advance.
I have the same issue.. ever since the 1.2 update. I can't figure out why its happening. I have java up to date, and such. I do get a text document that shows up where the minecraft.exe file is. Its called hs_err_pid10960. Also note that the text document names change for additional fails at logging in, but the content remains the same.
When I open the text document it says this:

Followed by a lot of computer lingo that I dont understand... I'm not sure what else to do because I cant really find any other situations like this out there except for this post.
Tried running as administrator and still nothing and also not showing in Task Manager. Also I don't even have an error message or anything come up when I click on the icon. Everything is up to date. What do I need to delete to have deleted all the Minecraft stuff?
It black screens, right? Right click on the desktop where there aren't any icons, and click Properties. Go to Settings, and change the screen resolution to the lowest available. You don't have to keep this change.

I don't think you understand, I click the icon, says its loading for about 2 seconds, then NOTHING happens. Nothing in the Task Manager, nothing anywhere! I don't understand why it is doing this
You do know that the program that opens is called javaw.exe, right? If you get a completely black screen, follow my instructions above. If it stays on the "Done Loading" screen or if it closes altogether, I can't help you.

if you have mods installed you can't play from minecraft.net you need a launcher for that, go to the donwloads page and get I launcher for you OS, and or you don't know how to install mods right and you need help and installing them, this is not that hard.
I am experiencing the exact same problem. With the error file occurring and everything. I click on the Minecraft icon. It takes me to the login screen. I click to log me in. A screen briefly appears to be loading. Then it just turns to black and closes. I have tried to run as administrator - no effect. I have tried to see if it was the java file I had installed and I installed and uninstalled 3 different versions of java - no effect. I have looked in the task manager after it happened it see if it was still running - nope, not running. When I try to log in through the browser, it starts saying that Java is loading, then it again briefly says that the game is loading but immediately goes white instead and nothing else happens. Please help. Not sure what is going on. I added a completely new post for this message as well, but I am desperately looking for answers.
Minecraft will not load at all, NO black screen, no log in page nothing. I have no mods installed or texture packs, Just all of a sudden it has decided that it doesn't want to load up. Any ideas?
I was given Minecraft via a gift code by my friend last night and I've spent the last 5 or 6 hours attempting to get it to work, from what I can tell researching, people have been having this issue on and off for years. If you hang around long enough the client will shut itself and you will receive an error informing you that the Java SE Binary has stopped working. I'm getting the identical problem and to hopefully gain some attention and help future onlookers I can tell you for a fact none of the following solutions are working.
-Reinstalling Java, Video Drivers, Minecraft (deleting the .minecraft, the OpenAL.dll's, and even a weird solution involving a replacement fz.class file)
-I've tried running it in Java 6 and 7 (in all combinations of 32 and 64 bit, including running the client itself in 64 bit by the pathing shortcut trick)
-Using the browser in any versions of the Java and with the old and new Video drivers
-Moving to an older version of Java, and a program which forces Minecraft into an earlier version
Basically I've tried every possible solution you're going to find by googling this or browsing through the Minecraft forums and I was wondering if a techie could shed some light on the actual issue at hand..
I'm pretty good at researching issues like this normally (no formal tech knowledge honestly) and I'm completely stumped, ask me anything about my specs or for error logs.
Re-downloaded Minecraft.exe off the website, and still wont load? looked in the %appdata% folder and couldn't find the .minecraft folder (am i looking in the right place?)
deleted minecraft.exe and redownloaded a couple times.. im not sure what to do. I'm not a techie, but I have looked stuff up adn tried it, but still no results. Hopefully a techie or soembody from minecraft will read this and give opinions on what we should try?
Thanks in advance.

Oh, and sorry for kind of hijacking.
