Hi. I am playing Minecraft on a Windows 7 laptop. Everything runs smoothly and well except when I press F11 to fullscreen Minecraft.. it closes without any error messages. Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening or how to remedy it? Thank you.
There is an issue with either Java or your graphics card. Mine does the same because my graphics card doesn't support Advanced OpenGL. Everytime I turn it on or fullscreen the game it immediately closes. There should be a file appearing on your desktop called hrr_err or whatever. If you find one of these appearing, then it is your graphics card. You can try updating it, but chances are if it doesn't work now it won't ever work on that card. You'd have to get a new one.

Ah, thanks Volfgang. I do get the hrr_err in my Documents folder. That makes sense, I'm thinking of getting a new laptop soon anyway. Thanks again for the help! +1

I found a fix for this if you would like first go to properties and have it run as administrator then go into compatibility mod and have it run as windows xp sp 3 and it works without an issue i had to do it for mine

If you haven't already gotten a new graphics card or P.C, Then you would run Minecraft as administrator by going to its properties Then go to start and find compatibility and click it. Then you find Minecraft and say that you had a display problem. Then say it was from not being able to full screen. It will set your full screen resolution and you will run Minecraft from there. Then press your F11 and it should go full screen! If this does not work then get the Optifine Mod for Minecraft this should allow you to set your Full screen from Minecraft. This mod also allows for you to get better FPS for the game. I had run 19-20 FPS then installed Optifine and got full screen and my FPS shot up to 80-90! Hope this helped!

Playing on the client.
Possibly, I think it should though because I've never had a problem with anything else. Other games, videos etc.

Maximising the window is ok, although I would prefer to play in full screen if possible.
edit: Apparently while fullscreened Minecraft has a higher FPS which improves speed therefore improving gameplay.
