Its your computer, i cannot even run skyrim on LOW graphics and i have never had this happen to me, maybe you have low memory, just becuase you have a good graphics card doesnt mean you cant run out of memory.
Make some room for minecraft, maybe try uninstalling some games you dont play anymore, i have a TB (1000G) so im fine for memory, thats why it doesnt hapen to me.
What you can try is this
Open notepad and write this line
java -Xms2048m -Xmx2048m -jar minecraft.exe
Save the file as bat by choosing all files instead of text document
Place the file in the same place as the Launcher

if you have 64bit windows 7, download java 7 64bit
also download java for linux (its named minecraft.jar) and place it somewhere
open notepad and type
"C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\java.exe" -Xmx1G -cp filepathhere\Minecraft.jar net.minecraft.LauncherFrame
save it as minecraft.bat

Otherwise you should check that you are running fairly recent video drivers.
