Well, I've been playing minecraft for a while and I decided to use 1.9 pre release 5 but when I try to use it on browser, it doesn't load at all. So I wanted to use the .exe downloadable file but after like 10-15 minutes of gameplay, my laptop just shuts down. And I don't think it is a overheating problem because I test it RIGHT AFTER I turned my laptop back on and it still has the same result. I also tried using 1.8.1 on the .exe file but also has the same result. The only way I found where it doesn't shut down, is by using the browser which for some reason I can't use 1.9 pre releases on it.
Here are my computer specs:
Processor: Intel(R) Core (TM) i5 CPU M480@
2.67Hz 2.67 GHz
Installed memory (RAM): 4.00 GB (3.79 usable)
System Type: 64-bit Operating System
Windows 7
Is there anything else I need to add to me specs?
Thanks.
Try backing up your saves and reinstalling minecraft. MAKE SURE TO BACK UP SAVES
Tried that, i even timed myself, 12 minutes and 21 seconds until my computer shut down LOL.
I don't even have to use the .exe file. I'm fine with using the browser as long as I can use the 1.9 pre releases on it. But since it's not working on the browser (loads the java flash screen but stays black after that) so it's basically useless and I can't play 1.9 until the game officially comes out which I heard comes out in mid November.
I know you have already mentioned it, but it does sound like an over heating problem. Install speedfan or some temperature measuring program and see what temp your cpu is when you run minecraft.
Well actually, when I play other games, it seems to run perfectly fine, it's just minecraft that seems to be messing with my laptop.

Does anyone else have any ideas?
