Hey everyone hope your enjoying your Minecraft days before Minecon!
I'm running the latest bukkit server with Hamachi and I've been having this thing called system overloaded or time has change? crap that comes up most of the time I have a windows XP [Old I know lol ] but I have a 2GB of ram but it runs smoothly [somtimes lags and crashes] somehow so I ask -
How much ram do you actually need to run a server without lagging and errors? I'm looking into getting a fast and better PC eventually I know I've seen a few that I really want but looks so exspensive gah!
Anyways enough of my rambling let me know what I should know and need before a making the best server I can deliver.
Remember that if you're running it on your own computer, your computer is taking up RAM too. The server requires at least 512MB to be viable, then Minecraft might take up another 200-400MB, then you have all your other programs too. Usually, if there is no lag on your server, you can ignore the overload message - it's very common among many servers and can be disregarded.

i would say get a desktop (cheaper) and a i7 Core processor and 16 GB of RAM, its a lot but it helps with bukkit servers. Someone above me said 8 GB of RAM would be good, which it is. But.. To get A 16GB RAM PC its almost just as much money used
About..... like 700 for the computer. Cheap. Believe me its great. I can host 76 people: No lag
