If my assumptions are correct, you used to be able to ignite netherrack with restone and a switch right? I've updated to 1.9 prerelease 2, and have tried every combo of redstone/redstone torch and nothing will get it to burn, except for an old fashioned flint and steel.
Was this taken out for 1.9 or earlier? Or perhaps it's just a bug? :sad.gif:
Odd... I recall seeing a map someone built arround that exact thing.
That's what I thought as well.
Again, I never did actually do it myself.
Maybe it was just a mod for bukkit. I was trying to make a breeding station that leads to the "killing floor" where i'd burn a bunch of cows/chickens/pigs for quick, cooked meats. I guess I'll just do it the old fashioned way.
Was it modded? Because I have never heard about this.
I don't believe so, because to my recolection I've seen it 3 tims: twice on two different adventure maps, and once in an entry for a building contest. Again never done it myself, try to avoid fire in a lot of my structures, but it definately worked, and seemingly with no specific mod to do it.
This didn't work in Beta 1.8, so I'm doubtful that it ever worked.
In fact, in the Better Than Wolves mod, there is a block that you have to CRAFT with Netherrack, with this express purpose. Why would it be present if you could already do this with straight-up Netherrack?
It definately worked in 1.7.3.
From what I can remember, you put the redstone under the netherack, though I haven't made a self lighting fireplace in a while. I'm nearly certain it's not a mod. I'll try tomorrow on my 1.7.3 jar, and report back if this thread is still alive.

Please let me know if it does work in 1.7.3! I guess it wouldn't really matter, since I don't care to downgrade, but at this point I guess I would just like solid closure haha.

Yeah, he's right. You never could.

Well phooey.

Well, you learn something new every day.
