This is the second time this happened. I'll be playing in a server and when i walk to a certain place in a map I get 0 Fps and 0 Chunk updates. And It looks like a SLIDESHOW. I can't even move out of the area, to see if its the place around me. This has never happened before 1.8 came out. Even in the pre release this didn't happen. It would be VERY much appreciated if I could find a fix for this. Thank you.
I got this to on one of the servers I play its in a certain location you have to kill ur self to get out of it but its almsot impossible to do..Happened after 1,8,1 update
This happens to us also. The problem seems definitely to be server related because it happens to all users in the same area of the world, approximately x=700 and z=700. On my server I have two worlds, the old one created on 1.6 works without any problems. The new created on 1.8.1 worked fine to start with but now is getting worse for every day. If I just move about 100 in any direction the problem is gone.
If it's to any help the setup is:
Playing over LAN
Server: CentOS 6 x64, Core2Duo, 4GB. Using Java 7, used OpenJDK earlier but upgraded to see if it went away.
Client: Windows 7 Ultimate x64, Core i7, ATI Radeon HD4800, 6GB RAM.
Did your world disappear from minecraft? Is it corrupt? Lags? Can't move? "Saving Chunks" Crash? Crashes when you open chests? It can be saved!

This is happening to me as well
I have a mac book pro
2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
2 Gb Memory
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M
I get 50fps on servers normally with far, smooth lighting and fancy graphics
Just randomly, i get 0fps on low everything and normal texture pack too
I tweaked my java settings to give minecraft server 1GB Memory
It must be the server
k first off i don't know if this will solve you problem but you need more RAM

Wait, I'm confused now.
You say you get '50fps on servers' ... then you say you 'gave minecraft server 1gb memory'
Are you playing on a server that you are also hosting on the same computer?

i have this same problem, on all computers that join my personal server. I am running the server on my desktop that is about two years old and has acceptable performance, and playing on my laptop that is brand new and can play the game fine (3.3 ghz, Raedon Graphics and 6gb RAM)so im not even playing the game on the computer that is hosting the server and whenever i approach my house this total drop in FPS happens. And raising allocated RAM hasn't helped either, im only using 50% of allocated memory. Please help i would love to be able to start this server back up again.
Ive got this before. the best way to deal with this is to try your best to walk in a straight line out of the area, and avoid the general area, mark a border with signs or something around the place that causes the fps lag.
btw fps lag is 100% client-side
Regular texture pack, Mobile Intel(R) 4 series Express Chipset Family is my video card. Not to sure about my processor speed.
Anyone figured out the problem?
I run a private server and everyone's blaming me for them getting 0 fps.
Please Help

FPS lag is completely client side.
However, if you're running a server on a macbook while trying to play minecraft, you're going to get lag.
