Ok, let me start off by saying this; I have been trying to find a solution to this problem for WEEKS, it almost seems as if no one else in the world has the issue I am having. I bought Minecraft last year on my PC (running Windows 7) and I played on multiplayer mode with no problem. Then I decided to quit. After a few months I remembered how much fun I had playing Minecraft so I decided to play it again. Only 1 thing, I wasn't playing on a PC anymore. I recently got a MacBook Pro running Mac OS X Version 10.6.8 (at the moment) Because my PC broke and was could not be used for anything. I know Minecraft worked on a Mac because my friends played on Macs. So, I downloaded the client off of www.minecraft.net and now had Minecraft. I did not have a server to play on so I was happily playing Single Player. I then found a server on the Minecraft forum and I applied to get in and I got in. I typed in the IP (I knew I was whitelisted because the owner of the server PMed me and said I was) and I got scared. What happened was it said "Connecting to server..." For a while and then it said "Failed to connect to the server operation timed out." I immediately thought to myself, the Minecraft staff probably saw my name and acknowledged that I had not have played for so long and assumed I quit for good and erased my premium status even though I can still change my skin and it doesn't say "User not premium." So I tried to play Classic Multiplayer. Then, this box pops up from Java saying, "The application's digital signature has been verified. Do you still want to run the application?" So I of corse click "Run" and then in a split second, the same box pops up again. I click run and then the box keeps popping up and I keep clicking run and then the window where I should be playing Minecraft goes black. It cant be the Black Screen of Death because the client does not go to a black screen when I run it. I have been doing that for weeks now trying to figure out what the issue is. So I had no clue what to do so I tryed to use my Family Desktop. It is a Gateway Computer that runs windows 7 and I try to play Classic multiplayer and It worked! But I cant travel with a desktop around and I like my Mac better so why is it working on a Windows Operating System and not a Macintosh Operating System? My Minecraft and my Java are up to date and this issue still happens. Someone, please HELP ME. I do not know what to do and I want to play Minecraft online so bad and I do not want to have to quit again because of a problem someone out there knows how to solve. Please! this is my last resort.
If your playing windowed on mac theres your problem, from my experiances with mac, it usually doesnt like playing games in your browser. If you havent already, download it. And usually when it says that connecting to server its usually because the server isnt up or he gave you wrong ip or didnt port forward right.
