So i turned my server on today, i got the blue screen of death then then turned my computer back on and then i was informed by someone on the server that there was ice everywhere. I had a look and sure enough there was. The Ice was in places it shouldnt. it had frozen most of the ocean.
Please! could someone explain why this is happening!

if u had worldedit or u had more people who where admins that could use worldedit it would be because of them for sure
Blue screen of death is an actual proper computing term...idiot
I somehow doubt he was using Win NT or 95 Etc... SO, the BSOD is really non-existent anymore.
To answer the OP's question. That's what happens when a server crashes without the save-all and stop command. This is why the vanilla minecraft_server is crap. Your world is probably toast. Has happened to me a few times in the past.. using Bukkit now and SimpleSave.. never looking back.

What do cave noises mean?
Nothing. They're just there to scare the **** out of you.

If this is a hut, I would hate to see what a house is.
When your system crashed, the level.dat was corrupted. In your case, the level.dat was partially saved, enough for the world to run. However, the seed was lost in the process.
If you have an older save of this map, you can fix the seed. If not.. pretty SoL.

Did your world disappear from minecraft? Is it corrupt? Lags? Can't move? "Saving Chunks" Crash? Crashes when you open chests? It can be saved!

I use xp and I've seen the bsod on heaps of new windows 7 PC s so it exists

BSOD exist in both xp, vista and 7 and is only removed (well the blue at-least) in windows 8, or whatever they are calling it now. And according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usage_share_of_operating_systems its a fair assumption to assume he was using a pc capable of a BSOD

If you guys would pay attention voordal posted a possible fix...try not to go off topic with this Blue Screen stuff. It doesn't matter what you call it, the whole point is that it crashed and it needs to be fixed, and voordal tells you how you 'might' be able to fix it. Pay Attention Kiddies :smile.gif:

I do happen to have an older save of the map. It uses the glacier seed.

I did pay attention, i read the possible fix but havent had the chance to do anything about it yet.
- Download NBTEdit
- Create a new map, any name, using the glacier seed
- Open new map, save, quit.
- Use NBTEdit with the new map, find the seed #, copy
- Delete the new map, you dont need it anymore
- Open the old, problem map with NBTEdit
- Change the seed to the glacier seed #, and save NBTEdit
The ice should melt fairly quickly and return things to normal

It appears the iceage is over. My only problem now is getting rid of all the glowstone me and some friends put everywhere in an attempt to get rid of the ice.

Think, before posting.
It's not the proper term. It's an error screen.

That would probably save your map to the fullest extent possible. Happy Mining :wink.gif:
