Over the last 14 hours I have been pulling my hair out trying to figure this out. When I try to launch minecraft it lets me login then the screen goes black for a minute or two then I get this error:
Bad video card drivers!
-----------------------
Minecraft was unable to start because it failed to find an accelerated OpenGL mode.
This can usually be fixed by updating the video card drivers.

No problem! I just need to update my video drivers... How hard can that be? Well as it turns out the new version of video driver I need has some sort of unresolved error in it and when you install it on certain computers you loose your video feed. I'm working with 64bit Windows 7 so I thought it might just been a compatibility problem with my OS. I installed vista 32bit and no change the minute I update the driver down goes the video. So I went browsing the web for solutions... I haven't found any for the driver issue yet everyone with it just winds up rolling their driver back and making do. I used OpenGL extention Viewer to check the status of my OpenGL and it said under the OpenGL tab "Version 1.1". I ran the render test and it said that Version 1.2 was partially supported.
Does anyone know of a way around this? I have an XPS One A2420 computer if it makes a diference. I also have access to a new video card if I need it (pain the butt to install though).
Thanks for your help but I think I am up against a wall.
What video card is it? How are you checking for updates for it?

I'm not sure what video card type I have exactly I know that there is a 512 dedicated Graphics card of some type because I have taken several of these computer types apart in the past. To check the driver I have done it three ways:
Intel's latest drivers are 15.17.17.2413, as of last month.
Also, the "(Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.1)" implies the default drivers windows comes with.
TLDR: Your drivers arent up to date

Ouch...Intel Chipsets are probably the worst thing to try and run minecraft on. If you do get your video drivers updated good luck trying to run Minecraft with 512 RAM. You will probably have to install the new card you were talking about. Other than that you can find a new driver and have possibly tons of lag OR install that new video card (which would be the easiest and best alternative) Hope I helped. If i did just hit that little green plus in the bottom right corner of this post, Thanks
Yes sir! My drivers are out of date... By a lot! But when I try to update them I loose my video, the screen just goes black and I have to roll the driver back in safe mode...

I would try installing that new video card as yours seems to either run out of RAM or simply can't process it all. That would be the best solution. Hope I Helped. Btw what "new" video card would you be installing on your computer? Because you won't want to go through the installation hassle until you know if it's good enough to run the games you like.

@Lilrocker - This is an all in one computer. So the video card I would be installing would be the same one I have now. I would be installing it because I am suspicious of faulty hard ware.
@Voordal - I'm doing it through the device manager. I have also tried it through intel's site.
BTW, Thanks both of you for taking the time to help me.

er, I'm not sure you can install a new video card for an all in one. Your card is most likely integrated. Sorry man. I also doubt it is faulty hardware. I think it's just it doesn't have enough power to run Minecraft. Well I helped with what i could didn't I?
There are several ways to do that. HOW are you doing that? Are you going to the download section and downloading the newest driver, or are you just using the 'detect and install' thing?

@voordal - I'm not to savvy with intel's site so yeah I just went through the scanner on their site and downloaded it that way. =[ *Guilt*
@lilrocker - I think it's a video card not a chipset but that is part of what is confusing me. I don't see anything in device manager about a video card. All I see is the Chip set. As for how it will fit, there is a slot for it but you have to remove a load of stuff (that's why I am holding off on that).

It's the Vista/7 32 bit driver for the Intel G45 graphics.
Just for clarification, the G45 IS an 'integrated card' as far as the technology goes. It just happens to be that yours in particular is designed a bit differently, using the PCI-E slot to be able to fit the All In One setup. The upside is.. you can replace the card if its bad, instead of the motherboard. The downside is, its still an Intel HD graphics, which is often craptacular for games, especially minecraft.
Try that driver out, and see if it fixes it. If it doesnt, I have a few other possible solutions.

Thats a chipset? o well nvm that. Exactly how will you fit that into your all in one PC?

I'm pretty sure you have a chipset since it said and it was under Display Adapters so it is def. your video card (extremely likely anyway)
