Here's how you can get it back:
Method #1
Warnings:
1) You won't have any of the items in your inventory.
2) You won't spawn at your original spawn.
Good news:
1) You'll still spawn somewhere near your original spawn. You might have to travel around and find it though.
2) All your items in your chests, and all the structure you built will be intact.
How to do this:
1) Create a new world.
2) Exit the game.
3) Exit Minecraft.
4) Locate your saves folder.
5) Copy you level.dat file from your new world and overwrite it into your lost world.
You might want to backup your level.dat file, but it's not really necessary because it's corrupted anyways.
6) Open Minecraft.
7) Cheer for joy that your new world is back!
8) Rename the game to whatever it was before since it will have the name that you used for the new world.
(You might spawn in the ground because of your xyz coordinates in your new world. If you die, you'll just respawn anyways.)
9) Come back on here and say "Thank you Justain!"
Note:
Minecraft will inaccurately display the filesize of your world, but it doesn't really matter.
Method #2
The EASY way if you remember your world's seed name:
(Same warnings as method 1)
1) Create a new world with the same seed.
2) You'll probably spawn somewhere else, so go look for your base.
3) Come back on here and say "Thank you Justain!"
4) Send me $1 on paypal. Just kidding. Just click that reputation button down there --->
