This may have been a problem as of 1.6+, but I only tried to use our boat elevator today.
Exactly what the topic says, when I place a boat in what used to be a working boat elevator I can only place it on the ground beneath the surface and it will stick there (the water in this area is a horizontal current, not a waterfall or still source blocks, if that's relevant). You can even get in to the boat and ride it around underwater, but obviously that's not exactly useful.
In single player, I can't get boats to get "stuck" at the bottom of water (though I haven't built an identical boat elevator or tried very hard), but they still won't rise with waterfalls as they used to (again, they just sit there underwater at the same height). Was this change intended and do I have to redesign my boat elevators or is it a bug?
I'm running the standard 1.6.6 SMP .jar client with SimpleServer wrapper (which wasn't there when boats worked before 1.6).
I tried simply restarting the server and my client, nothing changed. I also tried running the server without the client wrapper, but for some reason I can't connect to it without it anymore ("Connection refused: connect") with just the .jar or the .exe file. The fact I'm having similar problems in single player leads me away from the server being the issue, though.
Where exactly does it say that they're supposed to be broken?
This is what I've found as far as nerfs go:
* Fixed submerged boats rising very very fast
And there was also this change, which I interpreted as a bit of an un-nerf:
* Boats float up to the surface quicker
I can't find anything else on the topic. If they're completely broken then how do systems like this work? (there are other similar systems on YouTube)
Regardless I'm still having issues with boats sticking underneath water even when not under a waterfall, so apparently Notch broke boats elsewhere with this change.
BTW, sarcasm when you have two posts above you saying something similar makes you look like a complete asshole.
Im new at MC and loving it very much (unlike my wife :smile.gif:, i almost forgot what she looks like hahaha... anyway,
I tried a water elevator and encounter the same problems as Since.
Boats get stuck on the bottom and when they touch the walls.
I hope MC fix this problem, especialy in single player mode. To bad that this loop is nerved it takes alot of fun out of the game. I never made one but i really like to.
Thanks for the post Since and i hope someone of MC will comment on this about what there plans are because this is a downgrade of the game.
Well, unless there's more information that I'm unaware of, it's not intended for these things to actually not be working properly (unless Notch wants us to use whatever system is present in that video exclusively) and that they should be fixed before *too* long. Apparently people who are knowledgeable about the subject don't frequent these forums very often lol, but I can probably figure something out and I'll let you know how I did it. I'm thinking it has something to do with source blocks.
