Above is my system information. Now I am getting some massive lag spikes while playing; which I see
are FPS drops from 60 fps down to 5 fps sometimes to nothing. I just started experiencing this since the drop of 1.6 beta.
I have 1.6.6 and still does the same thing. I never had any problems with 1.5 beta.
I know it's not my server because it does the same thing in single player also.
I have tried changing all the settings on my video card, also all the setting in minecraft &
also tried turnning off my antivirus to make sure. lol. Task manager tells me that nothing is running
in my background that shouldn't be. Also cpu% is lower then 10% while running minecraft. also I have tried
putting the priority to high and still doesn't fix it. Anyone have any ideas?
I just don't understand. I built this computer a couple weeks ago and I play WoW with everything cranked up
and have no problems but then I wanna come back to Minecraft and they do 1 update well now a few updates. Now I
can't enjoy building. Oh well. Hopefully the next patch will fix it. I was hoping 1.6.6 would fix it. :sad.gif:
aah don't worry dude i have the exact same problem it's because notch broke minecraft's cpu usage making it use more ram than ever, i lost 10 frames :sad.gif:
Happening to me as well. It will drop to single digit frame rates for a minute or two before crashing outright. Example image [link]. It seems to be related to memory usage, since I get out of memory [link] errors right before it crashes. Under normal (non-crashing) circumstances rendering the same scene in 1.6 produces much lower frame rates than the same area in 1.5. Where I'd normally see somewhere in the neighborhood of 100-300fps, in 1.6 there's constant stuttering and I'm lucky to break 60.
Under rare circumstances the game will continue to run after I get the out of memory error, but some chunks will fail to update. Seen here [link] the lighting in certain areas has not updated, and is still displaying daylight. If blocks are destroyed they do not disappear, but collision detection still works correctly.
I've reverted back to 1.5 for the time being, since I couldn't find a work-around.
Its not the RAM. I modified the game to remove the RAM cap, and it seemed like it might be a little better, but it still looke a little choppy. Idk if my efforts actually did remove the cap or if there is some other unforseen variable. Frustrating :/
This is all releated to the spikes of death and out of RAM issue.
When after playing for a while and the freezing starts, Save, shut down to desktop and restart as it's bound to go teets up soon. Just going back to menu is not enough as it still holds onto RAM. Trash collector must have been fired in 1.6.*
