The chunk error is not solved for everyone by having the server set view distance to either a high or low number. I have tried both and my server is still experiencing the errors.
Everytime I spawn I'm stuck in a block for a second, but still get the damage noise even though I don't get damaged. I know this is stupid to complain about, but trust me it gets annoying.

Seconded. I have tried just about everything on the forum to fix the chunk error myself and nothing has worked. The chunk error is far from fixed

Only one problem, tho... Server chunk/map loading error is not solved, at least not on my servers. I've tried all the "workarounds" here (set view-distance, save-all, stop and restart, log out and in, etc, etc) and none of these methods worked for me. Setting view-distance to 5 made no difference at all, and setting it to 3 loads a few chunks, but it takes up to 7 minutes to load one, and still most of the world won't load at all. I've tried this on my two local servers, in two different computers (and client on a third computer), and still SMP is not working.
I'll try getting in contact with Notch, I'll try to get him to figure this out A.S.A.P
If there's a visibility option in the server setup, then you must be running an ancient server with an ancient version of Minecraft. Get it updated, man. It'll probably take an entire day, but it's worth it. Or is that from the 1.6.4 update? Then I think you should check and make sure you're using port 25565, and port forward.
Both clients and server's 1.6.4, and I forced updated everything. I also port forwarded 25565. Everything worked great before 1.6.4, but it started bugging after.
EDIT: Oh, and View-Distance is in 1.6.4. That's also one of the known buggy options.
This isn't a fix, it only makes the server seem to be working at first, but it will still fail to load chunks once you start moving. Although I'm sure it's being worked on already (I hope!!) please change the colour so it gets attention, because it makes the game unplayable.
FYI, if it is still having a chunk error, then you must be running an outdated version of Minecraft. I used to have chunk errors a lot, but after I got the 1.5 update, It was mostly fixed, and after the 1.6 update, well, I haven't had any errors besides the one I listed a few posts ago.
I found that using a world without a random seed seems to alleviate the problem. I've not ran into any dynamic lighting issues after testing this discovery on three newly generated worlds.
Then make sure you're using the default port, 25565, and try port-forwarding again. Then I suppose this also means you aren't running an outdated version of Minecraft, as I suggested in my last response to one of your posts? Then I have no idea what the hell is wrong with your Minecraft.
me and my friend have similar problem, when we are gonna use the beds in smp (3 player) everyone sleeps, next night the bed when trying to sleep the beds will be occupied, and server logg have some kind of error, similar to yours. I dont run the server at the moment, but we all have had the same problem with the beds when we been hosting, anyway we get the error and then if we disconnect we cant rejoin the server, the world turn unusable, aka it becomes broken and you have to delete the world folder and start over. can anyone report if they have the same problem?
This is really weird, I am gonna post a link to this thread on Notch's twitter, everyone do it and maybe he will look :happy.gif:
Posted a link on NOTCH's twitter, Ill get update to when he tweets now on my iphone, so ill retweet the link when he gets online.

Well, for us, once those 3 people log in, it automatically give us the error message. So they can't even play, and I had to temporarily ban them so they won't disrupt others. Guess I have to wait for this bug to fix, and MAKE SURE NOTCH SEES THIS!!! He didn't notice this glitch yet, and it's important to me to create a successful server.
Well here you go my portal to the nether took a chunk of snow biome with it! http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/343553-snow-in-the-nether/
Also once i died from the pig men i got my items back and both my full sword and my full pick axe broke after one use
None of my minecraft seeds have clay in them... both random seeds and type in seeds are affected. Spent a good 3 hours running around searching for that sweet gray clay, no luck!

For some reason every time I try to enable my sound/Music (it turned off after the update) my minecraft randomly closes. It created 2 files on my desktop every time this crash happens, if anyone wants to take a look at them to see what could be wrong, I'll provide the file downloads:

Clay is EXTREMELY Rare...
This happens on seeds that are well known for clay. Even on seeds with coords to clay spots.
