I've had the SAME problems.. Been trying for hours. Prolly something crashed with the whole database for multiplayer. I have no idea what could cause this. Or it's you have to update something with the server. Hope that helps.
BACKUP YOUR SERVER world FIRST
Sometimes there is an issue with minecraft not checking names.... so i would suggest putting your server in offline mode and see if people can connect.

-what operating system is the minecraft server running on?
-are you playing on the same system as the one that the server is running on?
-if your running windows.... when you open command prompt, and type in ipconfig is the ip the same as displayed on the router? (is the ip the same as the one thats being port forwarded?)

I have a netgear router..
Operating system.. um not too sure what that means but Im using Craftbukkit 1.5.2 (for servers)
Yes it is hosted on the same computer
yes it is the same ip
Also, when I had it fowarded I was having trouble forwading it to both..
But when I fowarded just to TCP it seemed to work. Could this problem be catching up now?
