Hello everybody, this is my first post, so expect mistakes.
After posting anything, here is a quick diagnostic of my computer:
Computer Name: COMPAQ
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600)
System Manufacter: ASUSTeK Computer INC.
System Model: AWRDACPI
BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG
Processor: Intel (R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.93GHz
Memory: 504MB RAM
Page File: 345MB used, 996MB available
I got a Intel(R) 82845G Graphics Controller.
Now that you got my System Information, le's get straight to the point.
I recently started playing MineCraft a few weeks ago, where was fine and beautiful (as always) except for one thing. I had 2-4 FPS with fancy Graphics and Far render, it just sucked. After a few days i discovered that i could change the options to increase the FPS, i put the settings:
After trying them out, it was a complete success, My FPS increased from 6 to 25. I was so excited about this that i downloaded the Skylands Custom map, and the Painterly Texture pack. I played for several weeks, and everything was fine. Until, i got bored and wanted to play my map.
My map is a Snow covered world with a lot of pine trees, a Taiga biome. I started playing in this map for a couple of minutes when i noticed that my FPS decreased from 25 FPS to 9. It started freezing every 5 seconds and it was pretty anoying. so i decided to get rid of the texture pack, i saved the world and got out, but (as i said earlier) MineCraft freezed at the "Saving Chunks" screen for several minutes, and finally got on the menu. i changed the Texture pack to the default and started playing again in my taiga world, it increased like 2 FPs more leaving it at like 11 FPS, but it still crashed every second and was the most frustrating thing in my entire life.
I tried changing Minecraft to High priority in the Task manager, and even reintalling Java. But both of them were useless... So, ¿what should i do? ¿Should i buy a new computer? ¿Or changing my RAM?
Yeah, RAM doesnt matter as much as people think. And your question marks are en espanol...

Fantafox: I do not understand your logic... I thought that slimes were the liquid version of Namekians and they have male and female genitals in their bodies and they just puke out their babies...
Processor? Hmm, never thought about that, what is a nice processor for me to buy? And yes, my question marks are en espanol, but, it really doesn't matter. The point is to get rid of the lag.

-Graphics: Fast
-Render distance: Tiny
-Limit Framerate: ON
-3D Anaplyph: OFF (obviosly)
-View bobbing: OFF
-Smooth lighting: OFF
-GUI Scale: Small
-Advanced OpenGL: ON
It increased some FPS, and started playing at 6-10 FPS, the game freezed every minute, and when i tried to save the world, it freezed at the "Saving Chunks" screen with the bar loaded. But i discovered something that could increase my FPS, The Performance Package: http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=1032&t=290831
I downloaded Optimine http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?t=264418&f=1032
and Optifog http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=1032&t=271219
