I know it's possible to build a decent gaming PC for under or around 300 dollars, I just don't know much about what graphics cards are good, what motherboards, what processors, how much RAM, etc. so I was just wondering if anyone knows a good build under 300 dollars.

It will be really hard to build a 300 dollar gaming computer. A decent low-end graphics card is around $150, I'll try my best though. But you should be aware you are cutting this way too short. Atleast make your budget 500-600, but I will try to come up with something under $300.

Ok we've already reached $275, and thats with major compromises... dual core with a so-so graphics card. Keep in mind unless you want to run Linux, Windows 7 Home Premium is $99 so unless you want to keep Linux there's really no room for you...
Anyways, here is the performance of the graphics card GeForce GTS 450 in my previous post (in Full HD 1080p)
Bad Company 2, Advanced (all High) settings (remember AA is processor dependent, you won't be able to tune it up too high with the one in the pervious post) 31 fps
Keep in mind that anything above 30 fps is acceptable for most people. Also, it is impossible to stay under $300 and have a good gaming PC and have a legitimate version of Windows. I have tried my best here, you are going to have to select the rest of the parts according to preference. I guess this will cost at least $400. If you have the buck to make a decent gaming PC for under $600 (I know its double your budget, but this is pretty good) NVIDIA has this guide. It can actually run Crysis 2 decently.
I'm really sorry I could not get a good gaming PC for you under $300...
The only other option is to get the GT 430, which barely cuts 30 fps on medium-low setting on modern games. And you still won't make it under $300.
Now, if you don't need a gaming PC but a simple one to browse the web and stuff, thats a different story. I can see someone throw together a $50 CPU, $30 motherboard, $50 GPU, $30 hard drive, $30 case, $20 DVD player, $40 RAM and Windows 7 and make it to $350. At least they will get about 30-60 fps on Call of Duty titles on medium-low settings. But this would probably make <20 fps on the newer games on low settings.
I really highly recommend you follow Nvidia's guide I posted above.
Thanks! I was only shooting for about 30 FPS and higher in minecraft, so this is better than I even expected :tongue.gif: I plan to upgrade later on, so yeah I know this is cheap
