I'm using Windows XP and my system meets all of the requirements for the game.
I tried everything on http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=38098, but when I activated the minecraft.bat the command promt appeared for a split second and closed right away.
I tried downloading the minecraft jar file, but the same message box popped up saying that it couldn't create the java virtual machine.
"When you see a chicken, you gotta hit it with a shovel!"-SlyFoxHound
"Does he LOOK... like a *****?" -pulp fiction
"Double rainbow, oh my god, double rainbow, oh my god!"-youtube video
Note this works only for those running windows 7 64 bit (maybe XP 64 bit)
First uninstall java.
Go to http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
download the windows 7/XP 64 bit edition
download the windows 7/XP 32 bit edition
install the 64 bit edition
install the 32 bit edition
Now you should have both versions of java on your system.
Run Minecraft.
No more evil "Could not create java virtual machine" error message.
Well it worked for me.
Hope it works for you guys
Thanks for replying! I tried this just now, but sadly it didn't work for my computer.
Hmm... I tried that too, but it didn't work. I used Revo Uninstaller Pro to uninstall Java, then restarted my computer, then installed the newest version of java (which I had before), then restarted my computer, but it still gives me the same error message. Could there be something else on my computer interfering with java? This is the first time I've ever ran into this problem.
