I think I see where you're going. If you can get into the email you can block emails sent by the various mojang emails used to restore password changes.

I think it may have been removed due to account hackers, But it seems if you send an email to [email protected] with transaction ID/proof you bought the game you can ask for an email address change (make sure to include the email you want to associate the account with)
Yeah, I pretty much sent a letter (the same letter) to payment, sales and [email protected]. they should defiantly get the "I need help" message.

yeah i was just going to (if i had access) set up a filter to auto-delete all message from mojang. but getting the account removed is better.
I don't know if it's rude saying that it had been better to solve this in real life, but... It had been better to solve this in real life, so he won't apply this lesson just to minecraft...

The only problem is that he will play it online from the webpage. Defeats that plan. Good one though.

Not to mention when an update happens the game will auto update and restore everything to make the game work.
The only way is what the OP is already doing. Sending an email to mojang to have the account removed, refunded, or change the email to block access to game.
I think all there is left to do is simply wait for a reply and see what happens.

Seems so. I tried to log in to the account a few minutes ago, and it would not accept the new password that i had changed it to. So he is already backstabbing.
This really seems like something that you should, actually, you know... talk to him about... in person.
Trying to block him isn't going to do much good, and if anything, it will create a relationship filled with contempt.
His mother should do the parenting, not you.
I had a talk with his Mom, and she (supposedly) is / will have a talk with him. Ends up she only wants him playing games of Facebook, because those are the only games she considers "Safe".
I really dont actually want to do this, but after how he has been, I dont know if he is just looking for attention, and doing it the wrong way, or if his parents getting separated is hurting him or what now. But end is, this is a problem and she needs to address it, no me. I'm his Uncle, not his Dad.
I just feel that since I bought the account, and how his Mom doesnt want him even playing the game, heck, she TOLD me to delete the account, I am just doing what was requested of me.
Change the password on your email address then change the password on the account. therfore when he tries to recover, he can't access the email to do so.
Edit: Oh, and i would stop trying to get a refund / activation code from Mojang. They won't do it.
ssamus has the only solution, I'm afraid. I am less computer-savvy than my 12-year old son these days, but I'm pretty sure that his account (from which I am now typing) is associated only with the one email. My son is going through nasty divorce juju, also, but we still have to be at our best. He did give me the email account info. I changed the password of the minecraft account and then changed the email account password. Hopefully that will stop the easy password retrieval, even when he tries to play online from another IP address.
FWIW, he has generous relatives and saved for a year and a half to get the new iPad 3, which arrives via UPS tomorrow. It is staying in the box until the last day of school (over two months) because of piggy-backed groundings associated with Minecraft. The length of the sentence is directly proportional to the degree of subterfuge --- mostly on my business laptop -- as it surfaced. He self-imposed the worst of the grounding.
I'm disappointed that I was so naive as to think my kid "wouldn't go there." I've had to set passwords on my laptop, iPod, and school iPad systems and wasted hours getting to the bottom of it (if there is such a thing). He is not allowed to have a FB account yet (and I haven't caught him at it yet) and even if he did, I'd nix the games and put the netbook where the sun doesn't shine. I'll permit Minecraft when he can show he's responsible for what he says and does online.
I made him give me each account and password and he stood there until I'd logged into each because there were "mistakes" when he wrote them down for me. I am doing the same for Powerschool because I've seen a drop in his GPA.
Won't keep him from starting up new accounts, but I think he's catching on that he'll be caught and have even less access to the internet and that it's more trouble than it's worth to sneak. Won't keep his dad from just giving him a new Minecraft account out of spite. But he's also getting old enough to figure out that Dad's generosity is anything but.
You're a good uncle to put in the effort. You can make a difference. Kid needs as much good male role-modelling as he can get. Signing off (I hope).

The son does, hence the flaw in an otherwise good plan.
