Ok well first, I have used many many texture packs before. I know how to install them and all that stuff and have never had any issues until now.
Ever since the Beta release No matter what texture pack I install whether it be 16x16 packs that use the official texture pack installer in the game, or using the MC Patcher for the 32x and up packs. The same thing happens.
There are 2 different things that have happened.
First and most commonly, I choose one of the 16x texture packs from the in game menu and load one of my worlds. New world or old world doesn't seem to make a difference either. Anyways it loads the world fine up to the simulating world for a bit part. After that the screen goes black like normal but instead of bringing the game up it just stays black.
Second, sometimes...and mostly with the HD packs, the game will load normally but still have the default textures.
I have no idea what is happening because. Ive got the up to date MC Patcher, and Im downloading the most recent versions of the packs.
Need help please.
I really love the John Smith Texture Pack and a few others. It just isn't the same without them. :sad.gif:
Well. I have deleted the bin folder a few times already. Anyways I run the most recent MC Patcher and choose John Smith zip file. Then I change the pixels to 32x32. Usually that switches automatically when you choose a pack but it stays on 16x for some reason. Everything else is usually left as default. Sometimes in the past certain packs had you un check custom water and lava.
The 16x packs are clearly very simple to use and they worked fine at first when Notch released his in game pack loader. And although I'd rather use a 32 or 64 pack I like the Painterly pack for 16x. But that wont work either.
Ok. I deleted the bin again and the painterly pack is working. So at least the 16x packs are fine. Still not sure whats up with the higher pixel packs now.
OK. I feel a little stupid. The reason the John Smith pack wasnt working was something I did wrong with out realizing it. Usually for texture packs you download the zip file and just select that file when running the Mc Patcher. However. The John smith Zip file actually has a few other files inside of it including the actual texture pack zip file. So now it should work fine.

Then explain in detail exactly how you are installing John Smith's pack.
