hey so ive been playing minecraft for a long time on single player and im brand new to multiplayer for it and i just want to know how to join a server and the basics of minecraft multiplayer do's and donts
To join a server, all you need to do is click on multiplayer and then type in the relevant ip address, if you don't know one, ask some friends or post another ummmmm post...
*The below info assumes that you have windows*
If you want to host your own, go onto minecraft.net, click the download button (underneath 'play minecraft beta') go down to the bottom where it says multiplayer alpha server software then follow the instructions for the first link. If that doesn't work, you have to download the last link and put it into a folder on your desktop, then double click on it and a whole heap of folders will appear. Then, go back to minecraft.net and at the bottom of the download page, there is a line of code. Open a new text document by right clicking somewhere and clicking new text document, name it something random and go into it. Paste the code into it and save it as Minecraft.bat
Open the server.properties file, then open command prompt and type in ipconfig
scroll down until you see it say IPv4 address and type the numbers (keep the dots between the numbers) into the line that says Server-IP
Save it and run minecraft.bat
Then, run minecraft and click on multiplayer, then type in your ip address and click connect, this will start your own server!!
Note: If you want to make yourself admin open the ops file and type in your username.
Note:If you want to stop/start animals/zombies spawning, go into the server.properties file look for the relevant line (e.g spawn-monsters) and change it to true/false.
hi i was wondering if the "code" under the download page was (java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar nogui)
cuz if it is its only the minecraft server.exe, does the same thing and i dont know where to put my IP address when there are no "Server IP". Help plz?
