Running Vista 64 bit and running the latest version of the 32 bit version of Java and Minecraft keeps giving me a black screen after playing for a while I thought this was fixed but I guess not?
It has been happening since I downloaded this I have reinstalled it completely like 5 times now with fresh installs, deleted saves and NO MODS. Are you running GeForce or ATI? Mines is GeForce GTX460
I also have the same problem here is the pasted copy of what happens if i try to run the standalone version

Same here, my 8800gt died so I purchased a 460GTX and I have random black screens. I assume it is driver incompatibility somewhere. Perhaps a rollback? Anyone tried this?
I really really wish I could get some help here from anybody that like makes the game or a mod or something here are my specs:
OS: Windows Vista 64 Bit Ultimate
CPU: AMD Phenom 2 Quad Core 3.2 GHz
GPU: GTX460 1GB running 260.99 Drivers for 64 Bit OS
Latest Java
RAM: 4GB of DDR3

I just dropped all my mods and dropped my second 460 out of SLI and removed it from by PC. I found that I am running 32 bit java on my 64 bit machine, DLing the 64 bit version, checking to see if that helps.
I've been having the same issue as of late. I've tried more or less everything. Rolled back my drivers, reinstalled Java 32-bit and 64-bit, deleted the jars and redownloaded those, and I got nothing still. I really hope to god this gets fixed soon.

I think i may have found a work around however it is complicated.
First I downloaded driver sweeper from guru 3d
used it to then comletely wipe ati video drivers
restarted pc
ran minecraft with only the default windows drivers and connected to the net
this forced hware accelarated based errors
reinstalled the catalyst 10.8 drivers again
then restarted again
ran mine craft again and connected again to the net
it crashed a couple of times however i wound draw distance and quality right back
hope this gives some help as i now can finally play this game
Sorry forgot to mention that i am running both 32bit and 64bit java and it seems happy.
Just curious is the devs using and nvidia based devolpement kit for this software :smile.gif:
Here is the config file that i use as well as i found the default settings that minecraft crashed it too
Sorry forgot that i modified the config manualy as well

Same here, my 8800gt died so I purchased a 460GTX and I have random black screens. I assume it is driver incompatibility somewhere. Perhaps a rollback? Anyone tried this?
OS: Windows Vista 64 Bit Ultimate
CPU: AMD Phenom 2 Quad Core 3.2 GHz
GPU: GTX460 1GB running 260.99 Drivers for 64 Bit OS
Latest Java
RAM: 4GB of DDR3
I just dropped all my mods and dropped my second 460 out of SLI and removed it from by PC. I found that I am running 32 bit java on my 64 bit machine, DLing the 64 bit version, checking to see if that helps.
If you have windows 64 bit, uninstall all java. Then download and install only java 6u23 for Windows x64 from http://java.sun.com. Do not install java 32 bit.

used it to then comletely wipe ati video drivers
restarted pc
ran minecraft with only the default windows drivers and connected to the net
this forced hware accelarated based errors
reinstalled the catalyst 10.8 drivers again
then restarted again
ran mine craft again and connected again to the net
it crashed a couple of times however i wound draw distance and quality right back
hope this gives some help as i now can finally play this game
Just curious is the devs using and nvidia based devolpement kit for this software :smile.gif:
On the other hand, I am bored without the joy of Minecraft. I don't know what to do anymore. D:
