Yes I did read through all the guides on how to portforward correctly andI have been trying to figure out what is going on with my router for awhile now. I decided it would be fun to start a minecraft server on my laptop for me and a few friends. I can connect to my server on any computer in my network but noone else can connect which made me think it was a port forwarding issue. I double checked and I have the it set correctly for 25565 tcp/udp. I have been trying to get this working before now because it also likes to lag my 360 while playing halo or cod etc. I tried to port foward all the 360 settings as well to no avail. CoD gives me a message saying that my NAT type is set to strict even though I have followed all the tutorials I could to make sure its not.
Somewhere online while trying to get this minecraft server going I read I also need to make sure my ip is a static ip address in order for port forwarding to work. I went to portforward.com and used their program to set my ip to static. whenever I tried to change it using the program it wouldn't let me change the ip to static and so it is still dynamic. I am assuming I have to change the IP to static on all computers (should I change the 360 too and how?) in the network for this to work. So when the website program didn't work on my laptop I jumped on my imac to try and change its ip to static. When I do change the IP I lose internet connectivity (im assuming because im no longer on the ip assigned by my router) if thats the case how do I get the router to pick up the address i give? or am i way off.
again apologies if this just seems like a rehash of previous posts on this same subject but I have been working on this for two days now and all the other posts I read didn't solve the issue.
Clarification:
The computer hosting minecraft- Toshiba laptop running Vista
My computer connecting to server- iMac OSx
Other things on my network- 360, girlfriends Dell laptop with XP
Wireless Router- Belkin F5D8236-4
I hope this was enough information, for now though im getting off for bed, please reply and feel free to email me at [email protected]
