anyways you guys are giving too much detail of your computer.
if a hacker saw this he probably would hack you lol
The facepalm is strong with this one.
I have a new gaming computer, it's not an issue with the computer.
Also, I'm guessing you are, what, 12? Because you don't seem to know what hacking is, just seems like some mythical and cool thing you heard of that lets you access government files at the press of a button.
On topic, I'm having this problem too, was working fine until 2 days ago, don't know what happened, but I get this message about 5-10 seconds after joining a server.
Fix would be nice, but update saying "We are working on it" would be good so we know something is atleast being done.
One of my server has only experienced this when a certain player logs in. I deleted the .DAT file out of the players/ directory and everything is smooth sailing
I had made a new thread about this then used the search tool and found this one, so I'll just post everything here.
Me and my friend have been getting this "java.net.SocketException" error ever since Beta came out. It happens randomly, sometimes it happens when I open chests or break blocks. We are currently playing on another friends private server (although this problem seems to happen on any server), no one has any mods. Our minecraft screens go black, then minecraft doesn't respond and we have to quit via task manager.
We are both on fresh installs of Windows. My friend has XP, I have windows 7. We have updated drivers for EVERYTHING. We are not using any mods. We've added exceptions for minecraft in Windows firewall. We have no restricting AV or anti-spyware programs. We've uninstalled, reinstalled, and updated minecraft and Java.
Here's what the error looks like from the server console:
We are the only two out of our small group that have this problem. The only thing we have in common is that we share the same internet provider. Any ideas?

can connect to 127.0.0.1 (cause i host it on my local machine) but not to my internetAdress
Have you tried entering "localhost" as the server to connect to (without the qoutes)?

I have this problem. Seems like people have been having it for months and it has gone unnoticed, so I will make a new thread. The first day I had the game, all was well. Then, it started disconnecting me. When it disconnects me, it ****s my whole internet, and I have to unplug it and plug it back in to restore functionality. This happens when I delete just a few blocks, but if I walk around it seems to work fine.
A fair number of people seem to have this issue, but nothing seems to have been done for it.
I am also having this same issue. Running windows xp, static ip, and computer is able to run just about any other newer game including fallout 3, so I really dont know why this keeps happening. Also note, I am not using a laptop to run this, nor am I using wireless anything for internet. I am connected by cables.
Also, the time between logging into any server, and being disconnected seems to get exponentially worse. I cant stay online on any givin server for more than 2-4 minutes without being disconnected....and on top of that, i have to reset my router every single time I get booted.
Im somewhat glad to know im not the only one having these problems.
Could someone at least let us know if this issue is being resolved?
Enough people have this problem that something needs to be done about it. I hope this gets fixed with the next update.

Just checked, dosen't work for me still crashes my internet.
EDIT
Ok i updated the drivers to my network adapter and now everything works perfectly, so i advise to everyone to do the same and post the results.
There are no updated drivers for my network adapter, or anything else for that matter.

With the latest patch today I started getting this error. I can run my server but anytime I try to connect it times out at the login screen and gives me this error. I have updated my drivers but that didn't resolve the issue, it would be nice to have a fix anytime soon.
I have:
Realtek RTL8168C(P)/8111C(P) Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20)

The update has made the error happen a lot sooner for me. Now I have maybe 10 seconds until it happens.

Same hardware for me. I really want this fixed so bump
right after the beta release it seemed to work fine for a bit, but with the new _01 update i can play maybe for 2 mins then the whole SMP game just freezes and it crashes my whole internet
Internal client error: java.net.SocketException: Permission denied: connect" and the one you had. Singleplayer works fine, but there's always some excuse it comes up with to deny my request to play multiplayer , and I'm a member of the Obsidian Empire, so I'd like to get back on soon, lest I be expeled for not showing up. If I just said something someone else already mentioned, I apologize. I really can not understand all this advanced tech and programming stuff. Not very fluent in that yet, so trying to sift through for information would be a waste of time.
You guys have updated your java? I hear there is a problem related to the most recent windows release, don't remember if it affects 32 bit, 64 bit, or both. It hasn't happened to me yet.

I've incorporated a hashing function which is sometimes disrupted by a family of bees which have taken residence in the third megabyte.
Started getting this issue more and more since the update. Hopefully it gets fixed soon, pretty stupid that it just started happening to me because of this past update.

If nothing has changed your hardware settings since the update then and it can be fixed. On the down side I could just mean minecraft is requiring more information. Could Some one tweet or tell notch over IRC the link to this thread?
