Ok I recently bought Minecraft and now when I play multiplayer after a few minutes or so It makes my internet disconnect and the only way to reconnect is to reboot my computer.
I never had this problem during the free weekend. So currently multiplayer is un playable for me. How do I fix this?
Also take note that my computer is pretty screwed, when I reboot I usually have to keep rebooting It over and over and over until my computer decides to stop freezing constantly (even freezes on the Bios screen) and I know when It won't freeze when the red light stays bright and does not blink at all and successfully loads windows, therefore once I actually manage to turn my computer on successfully I never turn It off.
However Minecraft has been forcing me to restart my computer since even disabling and enabling the internet connection does not re-connect me back to the internet. The game disconnects my internet everytime I try to play multiplayer. Someone please help me resolve this issue.
Cheers.
EDIT: I have Windows XP, 2 gigs ram, 512 mb Geforce 8500GT, 2.33 Ghz Intel Duo Core.
I live in New Zealand and my ISP is Xtra Telecom.
Happens to me as well. I'm able to host a server and play in there by myself but the moment a friend connects my internet just turns off. I don't need to restart my computer I just disable the connection wait a few minutes then re-enable it and the internet comes back on.
I just recently starting having this problem too when playing in SMP. It occurs at random intervals, and the only way to reconnect back to the internet is to restart my computer.
Minecraft: Minecraft Alpha v1.1.2_01
OS: Windows XP (x86) version 5.1
Java: 1.6.0_20, Sun Microsystems Inc.
VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (mixed mode), Sun Microsystems Inc.
LWJGL: 2.4.2
OpenGL: ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series version 2.1.9026, ATI Technologies Inc.
Still having issues hosting a server, the moment someone connects my internet just turns off. I can connect to public servers ok even though it crashes randomly here and there, but i'd like to play on a map with just me and my friends...
I finally figured out what was causing Minecraft to disconnect my internet....
Apparently, it was my firewall. After uninstalling ZoneAlarm Pro, I no longer have any problems with the internet disconnecting whenever I'm playing Minecraft.
I've get this issue too, but it's only when people outside my LAN connection connect to my server. I get about 10 minutes (sometimes less) of play time with them and then they DC with a socket error and then everyone else DC's because my computer suddenly has no internet. Nothing brings it back except a restart. My firewall is even turned off...

What does ZoneAlarm Pro? I want to see if I have anything similar that's causing this issue for me. Thanks :smile.gif:
I have this problem only after I try to start harvesting blocks. The blocks re-appear and then when my network goes down I can't even get to my file server. Reboot or shutdown then often hangs at 'logging off'.
I have this problem to. I might have a temporary fix, it works for me. Get your friends to download Hamachi and create a network. http://www.filehippo.com/download_hamachi/
OMG! a lot of people have the same problem "/
So, I'm one of them... ¬¬
exists another topic with people having the SAME problem

I tried:
-Add the minecraft.exe in firewall exception list.
-Close thw browser and other things using internet.
-Update my LAN driver adapter.
-reinstall java VM and minecraft.
but none of them solved the problem, my internet down when i enter in random server! and only a reboot solve the problem "/
I use Win7x64 and my LAN adapter is Atheros L1... my MB is Asus M3A
I see that this problem is becoming common and critical, because restarting the computer today is not something you need to constantly =(
Nobody to help? someone really responsible for the game sees the problems that people reported here in the forum? a light ... who has this problem needs to read so that they are resolving this error, nothing else!
jhony i tried this fix and it actually worked for me, hopefully it does for you too.
in the control panel, open device manager and right click on your ethernet card to open properties. under the advanced tab, change the value of "number of transmit buffers" to 512.
I did that and now i can play minecraft without connection problems. good luck!

I'm at work now so I can't test, I'll see if I can resolve the problem after my class at college!

I had to restart the machine to get it to work also.
I think it has something to do with Java VM.
