Unfortunately I've tried this one. There is no app data for Minecraft on my HDD. I think because I haven't been able to run Minecraft locally yet, it hasn't had a chance to put any there.
It seems like a lot of people are having this problem. It's suspected that Minecraft is trying to allocate more memory than it can handle, so it fails. Try this suggestion I made in a similar thread.
Try removing all your texture packs. If that works, add them back in one by one till Minecraft won't start - that's probably the file that's causing a problem.
I go to start either my minecraft server or my minecraft normal game and it doesn't even start up. I have already redownloaded the game with no success.
Anyone have a real solution for this one?
I am using Vista 64, and have tried compatability mode as well already.
Doesanyone have an idea why this could happen? I hit the .exe for minecraft and nothing happens, no error, no nothing. It looks like it tries to work, but nothing.
When I monitor my task manager, nothing happens at all.
I fixed this by uninstalling all current and previous versions of Java. And reinstalling Java all together. It must have been corrupted somehow. Anyways, try it.
thank you so much, using your uninstaller to uninstall everything but the JDK and reinstalling it worked for me
NOTE TO ALL THE PROBLEM IS SOLVED AT LONG LAST JUST UNINSTALL ALL JAVA (you don't need to uninstall JDK though) and reinstall and minecraft will finally start
I had the same problem and so i went into the uninstaller and saw two versions both installed. I only deleted the older java and kept the newer one and it worked. So I think that if you (people with this problem in the future) have this problem, instead of uninstalling all of java just uninstall previous version.
I am having the same problem minecraft is fine in the browser
The exe was fine before 1.8 and now wont do any thing.
Deleting all of minecraft [exe .minecraft] and uninstalling Java then re downloading minecraft and reinstalling Java
and it still does not do anything?
any idea what's casing this?
I've been having this problem for over a month...Before it would just hang and freeze my computer to a crawl until i ended javaw.exe in my task manager. Now it does nothing but create the hs_err_pid file on my desktop. Now i have the same problem and have uninstalled/ reinstalled java multiple times, same with the video card driver. Restarting an insane number of times doesn't help either. It used to run perfectly with launcher and everything. Just seems i am doomed to always play in my browser :sad.gif:
The browser version works fine for me, zero problems.
However, when I download and run either .exe from the website, I get the windows error sound and nothing happens.
No errors. No anything.
Google hasn't helped me. Anyone know anything about this? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Latest versions video driver and java.
AMD Athlon 64 Dual-Core 4400+
ATI Radeon HD 5750 1GB

It was a corrupt texture pack - Bordercraft.zip.
As soon as I removed it - Minecraft ran fine.
