O.K. I found a loop hole to play minecraft. if you go to this link http://www.technicpack.net/tekkit/ it will bring you to technic pack. download the pack. Then go onto the launcher. The java thing shouldn't come up. then click on the picture that has technic on it. scroll down and you will find Vanilla at the bottom. This is regular minecraft. The exact same as plain minecraft no difference.

i have this problem too and it sucks. it works in browser but not on the downloaded version.i tryd the notepad .bat thing when i open it but it close imediatly so i took a screen shot and it said http://imgur.com/fvdMM

i have the same problem, and when i opened cmd and typed java.exe, the error didnt come up

I heard that XP no longer carries java virtual machine. so maybe you should get vista or something. im not sure.

I have the same problem to! Windows XP. I've tried many things, Nothing good happened. I also did the Command prompt thing, Only think that came up was abunch of commands I think..

I have java 7 Update 7. And no other javas... Please help..?

this happend to me so i thoght ill delet mincraft and re-install it but it wont let me. it just says the same thing"could not creat java vurtual machine" err what ever
any ideas
