I just got a new laptop and would like to have copies of my save files on my laptop and desktop, however i cant find them on my desktop, i have windows 7, and i downloaded the linux version if tht helps. Please help, cant find an answer anywhere
To view hidden files, go to Organize and down to Folder and search Options. Click on the View tab and under "Hidden files and Folders", click the "Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives" radio.
You probably haven't done this, but, if you have the new launcher downloaded, then you can launch that, and go in to options, and it will show you the location. It also functions as a link, hooray!
Just to let everyone here know, even the people helping :wink.gif:
There is no need to give direct folder path. Minecraft by default uses environment variables to get to it's install location. That variable is %appdata%\.minecraft\ Because it uses environment variables it does not matter what OS you are using going to %appdata%\.minecraft will always bring you to the minecraft installation.
Another option is to use the NEW launcher. Click options and it has a little link that says "Game location on disk" clicking that will bring you to the folder.

I have Ubuntu 10.10 too, And even though the options button on the Minecraft loader shows me where my Minecraft folder is, I can't, for the life of me, find the folder "Application Data". I have searched and searched and even tried the Ctrl-H method to see hidden files and folders, but still can't find my save game folder. I LOVE playing custom maps, and this really stops me from doing that, also, when I click the open folder button for mods and texture packs, that won't open. Why is this happening? I want to use the Jolicraft textures but now I can't. I would very much appreciate it if someone could help me with this. This was alot easier on Windows, but my Windows partition is stuck in a boot loop so I'm stuck with only Ubuntu for now.

How do I attach smilies? I've just tried like 10 different ways and none have worked.
You don't need to go through the folders, from the start menu just copy and paste the following into the "search" bar:
%appdata%\.minecraft\

(username)/Library/... and not Macintosh HD/Library/... btw

Save File Corrupt/Disappears?
There is no $home or %appdata%
