The game will start up but after I log in it would start to load then switch to a black screen and give me the error "Java(TM) Platform SE binary has stopped working" I tried everything I could think off. re installing java, running as administrator, running as vista, XP compatability PLEASE HELP.

remove the zeroes and you get 21, get rid of the 9 and you have 1121 then add two more twos for luck and..
those are all the numbers needed to make 12/21/12.
oh my gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood
I get this same problem on my laptop. Thing is when i run it on my desktop it works fine. I reinstalled java on both machines and for some reason i only get this error on my laptop.
For what it helps, I'm on windows 7 32 bit, have fully up to date java and video drivers.
I'm in the same boat

Same exact issue. Used to happen a while ago, but is rampant after latest beta patch.
The issue occurs soon after loading a new game. The screen goes black, then java crashes with the error message listed in the original post, "Java(TM) Platform SE binary has stopped working".
I have enabled debugging and will edit this post with more info soon.
Bump I have the exact same problem. I can play for a bit then my screen freezes. to fix that I just go into control pannel and exit out of control panel then all of the sudden on maybe the third time it brings up that message it seemed to come with the new update...
Same for me, but just playing via the exe file (tried both of them).
When I play online in my browser (firefox) I dont have any problems.
Newest java version is installed.
Go to start menu and type run, now click it. Then type %appdata% and hit enter/ok. Now just delet the .minecraft file but remember to put your saves somwhere else otherwise they will be deleted :smile.gif: hope this helped it worked for me

I've had the same problem. I've tried everything I can think of (deleting Minecraft and downloading it again, the same to java, checked current driver version) and this message still pops up. The only thing left that I can think of is this last patch. I highly doubt that it was something in the last patch because my friends don't seem to have this problem, but if it isn't something in the coding, then I have no idea what it could be.

a plethora of to the person that can fix this!
The only thing i can think of is that it has to do with the overhaul that the minecraft program is experiencing, when it is trying to work under bad instances(bad instances being the server migration). Hopefully it'll stop as they fix up minecraft after these days of torture(minecraft being down). I have the same problem, on singleplayer. Since multiplayer is down, i've tried singleplayer and every few minutes of playing, it'll give me a BSOD and then this error appears.

Hey, to all that has this problem: I have found a solution!(even though it's a temporary solution)
I have been searching for problems similar to this for a while now, and have tested some "fixes". the one that actually works, is turning the Rendering Distance from Far to Normal. I have been playing for the past hour, no crashes at all. Everyone here should try it, and i know, i too want to see what things look like off in the distance without having to come near it, but would you rather see things in a distance and get shut out of a game, or turn the render distance slightly nearer?
I think you know the answer to that question.
Anyways, hopefully it works for all of you as it did me.
I got this problem immediately after installing 64 bit java, which I installed to fix the blackscreen problem. None of the above posts solved the problem and playing the game with a short render won't work because java crashes even at the main menu.
If anyone has any idea on how to fix this please post. I have a server to be running.
Playing with a short render is not a fix, it is a compromise. And I didn't shell out $200 for a higher end graphics card for compromises. I fixed it by installing every version of Java for every browser in Windows in both 32 and 64 bit. Win one for extra hard drive space.
No, Rooster, it wasn't a service pack issue. For some reason Minecraft would blackscreen with the 32 bit version, but get this error with the 64 bit version. Downloading both fixed it for me.
Edit: nope still not fixed, just runs for a few more minutes before it crashes.

C:\Program files\Java\jre6\bin\javaw.exe
pops up then gives me this thing:
CreateRmSysmemsurface: __glNvRmAllocMemory 64 failed 42.
if you guys can find help for me too that'd be awesome

**NOTE** This will only work if your game loads and then goes to a black screen..

If it works you will be able to play the game the way notch intended it to be played. No Normal Render fix or anything. You can play it on full
Edit: nope still not fixed, just runs for a few more minutes before it crashes.
