We are coming along in this way, but would appreciate some people who are willing to help us. Any names for items/mobs or things like menu buttons would be greatly appreciated. Pumpkins are an especially tricky one. The WORK IN PROGRESS can be located here. If you have suggestions, please inform me of the name of the of the item/block/entity/gui/etc in the standard US English language pack. Thanks for helping get this off the ground. I will try post every time I update it.
As a side note, the zip file installs exactly like a mod and can be installed via mcpatcher, just like a normal mod.
Looks like an interesting project. Looking through what you've got now, and it looks like it has some way to go. BTW, it looks like you have the iron block named "Gold Arabesque". Shouldn't that be the gold block?
Also, some ideas:
Flint and Steel = Ferrocerium Lamp
Diamond Axe = Cellulotome
Diamond Pickaxe = Automatic Roto-hammer
Coal = Anthracite
Wooden Hoe = Sickle
Bow = Crossbow
Leather = Cowhide
Leather Helmet = Aviator's Cap
Leather Chest plate = Construction Apron
Iron Chest plate = Ferrous Explorers Exosuit
Iron Helmet = Ferrous Explorers Helm
Gunpowder = Sulfurous Compound
Music Disc = Phonographic Cylinder
I'm sure I can think of some others, but it's a start.
Lol thanks for pointing out the gold block part. The file is updated with all but the leather chest plate (SHOULD all be in the right spots :P), and residue replacing compound for gunpowder. Your suggestiong for Diamond Axe sounds really cool, but I am curious, what does it mean? Any other suggestions for the chestplate? I like the construction part, but the apron is a bit iffy (as is the tunic my partner suggested and prematurely implemented.) For now, I will implement the construction tunic, but will see what happens later on.
(I will not guarantee all edits we make will be listed here but I shall try.)
And, on it having almost nothing: Yeah... we got stuck trying to name mobs and fell apart for awhile. But, we are back up and trying to get blocks changed. Of course, things like dirt and saplings PROBABLY won't be changed, unless someone comes up with a freaking awesome name for them.

The Diamond Axe name I just came up with while looking at the Wikipedia article for Chainsaw. It had a picture of an old chain bone saw, called an Osteotome, which effectively means "bone cutter" (Osteo means bone, and tome meaning cutter). I simply took that and replaced Osteo- with Cellulo- (root for cellulose), i.e. the fibrous parts of plants (such as wood). Speaking of which, looks like I mistyped it earlier. Should be "Cellulotome".
Also, an idea for dirt. How about "loam"? Means the same thing, but sounds a bit more Victorian IMHO.
Ok, I swear I myself will make more contribution to it soon, but I have updated all but the lamp as, to at least the default version of the texture I have, the name you suggested makes no sense to me. It looks more like stained glass... I would try to think up something, but my brain starts lacking an hour ago :/. Oh well. off to bed and waiting to don a thinking cap on the morrow.

Sorry bout that last one, I was kinda half asleep when writing that. Thought process went something along the lines of:
Light -> glass -> silica -> quartz
While I enjoy the term "Aetheric flux agitator", the redstone lamp doesn't look like one (even if it acts like one); it looks like a stained glass lamp, which I shall call it (if Zee doesnt disagree).
Note: The above name is just a Steampunky name to describe a light-emmiting device. It does not need to refer to a specific style of device, just a device that "Agitates the Aetheric Flux"… which would mean that it excites the "luminiferous aether", which was believed to be the medium through which light traveled. Therefore, "Aetheric Flux" would basically mean the light waves, and agitating them would make them "active", so to speak, lighting up the area.
Yeah, I'm putting way too much thought into totally nonsensical things.

EDIT: Fixed typo for Diamond Axe

The texture pack he's working with is Glimmar's Steampunk, found here.
Diamond = Adamant
Gold =Aurum
Bed = Chronoscaphe (time ship)
Glowstone = Luminiferous Stone
Glowstone = Luminiferous Essence
Lamp = Phosphorescent Quartz

How about "Aetheric Flux Agitator" for the redstone lamp?
Also, Torch = Gas Lamp
