Will Minecraft be a completely different game? Will you be able to go to several different dimensions? Will there be more bosses? Will there be plenty more items (for example binoculars)? Tell me what you think Minecraft will look like in the future.
Mojang will have probably moved on by my definition of a few years, which is 3-4. I could see them working on a sequel to minecraft, with things like more advanced physics and a move towards photorealistic graphics. I assume there is only so much current MC can do.
have have been playing minecraft for 2 years now. if you really want to know how its going to change go back and play beta 1.4 for a day or two then play 1.7.4 release. After that came back here and tell me how much its changed. if this question had been ask back then i could not even begin to imagine all the things that have been done.
They will (unfortunately) re-texture everything that hasn't already been re-textured, they've been doing it for some time now.
That's probably the most accurate guess I've ever seen. They'll probably also add a red dragon that crashes the game, make some snapshots, then fix it after the next major update comes out.

In a couple of years the lag spike accumulation will surpass the rate of hardware development.
In 2 years we will have to wait for better hardware to be made to test the latest snapshots.
That does seem to be the way it's going. In a few years government super computers probably won't even be able to see the chunks right ahead of them.
In seriousness, Minecraft will not be the same game anymore and it will be cluttered with hundreds of blocks and items which have absolutely no use. Survival mode will play nearly exactly the same(besides a couple new items to make old ones useless) but Creative Builders will have lots of new toys to play with. Every old texture that hasn't already been changed since release will be changed and the sounds will be changed into even worse ones again. The game will have gotten pretty damn old and so the population will have dropped massively but there'll still be a reasonably large playerbase.
Ditto, unless Minecraft gets challenged by a competitor (and I mean a REAL competitor--not one of those Minecraft hacks that take basically the exact same concept, same textures, same blocks, etc. and refer to their "creation" by a different name).
In my opinion, Minecraft has been the king of the hill mostly because of this lack of competition it gets to enjoy. Mark my words, though: as soon as some other person (or company) drafts a good candidate into the stream of competition, Minecraft's days will be numbered. And I'll bet everything I have that it's going to happen sooner than later--there's too much money to be had not to...
It's pretty much the same feeling when you start modding, at first you say 'I can do ANYTHING I want' but then realize not everything feels good in the game. It's just like being in a free society and realizing that most things you can do are pointless or strange.
Obsolete. In 2014 we'll see released a few voxel-based sandbox games that will make MC look kinda sad in comparison; I mean, games with 21st century graphics, more community-oriented features, complex mechanics and actual game design, not to mention some of them will cost less than MC or be free to play. I really don't know what could stop people from jumping off the bandwagon way before 2 years from now.

What how so everything that has been re-texture has not been huge or anything nor has it been bad

Timeless Modding is kinda dead but idk what to put here now
I occasionally make textures/models for random people. Contributed to: Tinker's Construct, Growthcraft, and Animals+
