I guess you do not understand the concept of analogy.
I was referring to my earlier posts, where I compared the concept of there being both horses and pigs in Minecraft with there being both SUVs and sedans in real life. Apparently, you haven't picked up upon the fact that I was referring to real life, not Minecraft, when I was talking about the SUVs.
I would like horses because the pigs are fun and all but u cant like charge into a village on a pig wielding a sword you charge in on a pig wielding a carrot on a stick no fun in that
I don't need to build this giant castle - I could just build a dirt hut. I don't need to make everything pretty. I don't need to build large redstone contraptions just to lock my front door. Minecraft doesn't need lapis, or colored wool, or chickens, or different trees. You know, minecraft doesn't need a lot of things.

'You hate me, I hate me, now why can't we just hate me over a cup of coffee?'
"Pigs are the horses of minecraft! Pigs are the horse of minecraft! Pigs are the horses of minecraft!" Sorry but you're kicking the dead horse with that statement.
+sigh+ Now that I got that little peeve out of my system. . .
You're saying they're the same thing yet you don't know what would actually be done with them. You have no basis to base your assumptions off of at this current time. For all you know they could drop glues and hair which could provide for new materials to make new items. If such is the case then they could be a very useful mob. They may make them spawn in herds and be easy to startle if you do the wrong thing while trying to tame them thus causing a stampede that could run your rear over! That would add an interesting dynamic to the game making the horse mob a bit more amusing and challenging to have around. The ability to be able to use weapons while on a mount would also be very handy for combat and tactics if that occurs. There is a lot of potential you are ignoring due to taking such a close minded stance on the topic.
Really think about it. Horses could add a lot to game play, crafting, aesthetics, tactics and even some amusement but you are ignoring this because, and I shall quote it once more "Pigs are the horses of minecraft!" which is a very, VERY narrow minded view.
Think about horses in real life, they can trample you, kick you if they don't like you (be a good thing to add a random chance of that happening when you try to tame one. If they don't like you they can let you know about it!) they spook and can stampede due to it, as morbid as it is their body parts can and are used to make some things, they eat like no tomorrow and you can use other things while you're riding a horse.
You say that minecraft doesn't need horses, well, minecraft didn't need redstone either but look at how many people enjoy it. Minecraft didn't need witches but they do add to the game in the form of another type of challenge. I think you're confusing need with want quite a bit here.
You don't want horses, fine, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it, however you are NOT entitled to bashing others who like the idea. You are NOT entitled to telling someone that no one needs them because the shoe can be put on the other foot just as effectively. You are NOT entitled to insulting other people's wants and opinions just because they vary from your own. Try not to be so pushy with those things please, as being pushy like that is just going to gain you more resistance.
Anyways, all of this comes down to want, not need. A lot of people want horses in minecraft. I don't care either way to be honest. Horses would be nice but I'd be fine with them not being added as well. I can still see the potential benefits to adding them though. Try to at least look at a view that differs from your own, even if you don't agree with it. Maybe then you'll at least be able to see where the other side is coming from.
What I meant to say is: That you can't compare a real life thing to minecraft.
In real life, animals evolve. So, do animals need to evolve in minecraft?
The real world is much bigger than minecraft(not the world size, i mean the stuff in it)
that's why there are so many things in real life. If you ask why there are cows when there are pigs for food: Pigs give you pork, and cows give you leather. Cows now give food to balance out the hunger bar.
The horse adds no point to the game. Tell me, what can the horse be used for, that animals don't provide already. Don't say riding without a carrot on a stick, that could be added to a pig too.
Let's assume that if a feature is to be of worth, it needs qualities that differentiate it from other features. In this case, horses need to be different from pigs. Throwing out the "riding without a stick" part, let's see some differences between horses and pigs, with some of the horses' qualities from the Mo'Creatures mod.
- Horses -
- Less comedic effect
- More complex breeding
- Can carry stuff
- Faster
- Different Breeds
- Pigs -
- Comedic Effect
- Simple Breeding
- Easier to Manage (ie. aforementioned simple breeding, no health to worry about)
Horseswould be great u could breed them with hay which ca be grass grown
Away from light like mushrooms they can drop dung for bone meal
And when u ride you can go really fast theyll need feding everyday or they go wild untamed
And attack you u can feed them apples potatoes carrots and sugar
Ull need to craft a horseshoe with iron blocks as u would a bucket.
My grammar and spelling peeve aside. . . Those are some pretty good ideas Usaydmines. I like the dung drop/fertilizer thing. Heck make it so you must use a shovel to collect it or else you'll get nausea.
i still don't see why we can't just have pigs. pigs are fast enough already.
Pigs are just (Probably not even) barely faster than someone jumping while sprinting. They're just not very useful, and they're annoying to control. On top of that, carrots on a stick have a short durability.
Who cares. Just the fact of horses in game is cool. I mean. We have almost all the farm animals: cows, pigs, sheep(s), chickens. We even have cats and dogs! (found in farms.... DONT JUDGE ME) The only animals you don't find from farms in minecraft are goats XD and horses. why not add them to make minecraft a farmer friendly place. I mean... what about those poor cowboys :'( they would be like:
"Well ya'll, I just be spending my lifes earnin' on this here game minecraft. Since i'm a cowboy, I be expecting them horses. *Plays minecraft* "Well ill be darned! I spent my savin' on a game with no horses! I'm mighty mad! I'm gonna teach these Mo-jansters How I be feeling about this." *goes to mojang in sweden* "WHO HERE BE JEB??? *Pulls out 2 revolvers* *BANG* that'll show you not to be messing with us texas cowfolk!" Now whould you horse haters want that to happen??? If we don't get those horses, a gang of cowboys will kill jeb! I HERE BY THOU ANNOUNCE THAT FOR THE SAFETY OF JEB, HORSES SHALL BE ADDED!!! (I know cowboys aren't like that but it was for a dramatic effect )
Mundane. All the mobs that were added for about 2 years now are innovative. Wait, witches and innovative ? Yes. In an RPG witches shoot lightning bolts at you. In Minecraft they throw potions at you. Innovative combat!
But pigs are slower ! And that is good so. Things faster than pigs going at Carrot Nitro speed are hard to control and you will probably fall of cliffs.
But mounted combat ! Face it, MC's combat system isn't made for mounted combat. If a horse would be the size of a cow, your sword reach would be decreased to about 2 blocks of range instead of 4 blocks. And you are a very good target as a horseman. Cause if ya keep riding ya will miss your meele target and overshoot it whilst it stabs you in the back. So you will have to stop and turn around. Now you are artow/potion fodder !
But breeding ! .... Why do we need to have a breeding system for horses ? We would need a breeding system for farm animals too, such as chickens laying eggs every 2.5 minutes instead of 5 minutes or cows that drop more meat and stuff. And this will be too much farming IMO.
But they are horses and awesome! They may be, and there is indeed not many more great sights such as watching a Lich Lord Charge into battle on his trusty shadow steed. But not in MC, as such things require higher defi ition than MC offers. Adding a mob jus because it is awesome is adding a mob that is an ambiance mob but wasn't intended as one.
But I like ponies ! They wouldn't add ponies but horses. And I despise ponies. They kick me. Often. Even if I move veeerrryyyyy sllllooooowwwwwlllyyyy. (And yes, this topic contains a post arguing that adding horses is cool because MLP fans could get a texture pack that turns horses into ponies.)
Also: all the balancing that has been proposed for horses to make up for their (not present) advantages over pigs gives horses a WAYY too big spotlight. It is over the top. We do not an entire content update devoted to horses.
And last but not least: The devs can add these functions that horses may have to pigs ! SO IT IS A WIN-WIN SITUATION ! You get the desired stuff and we can keep pigs !

To be ridiculously honest, that is the dumbest argument for why something doesn't need to happen. I personally am for horses, because they add another element to the game.

We don't need horses, I don't want horses. So what? I don't care for an optional feature, it doesn't matter, cause I can avoid it by simply not taming any horses.
Adding purely optional content wont bother my experience with the game in the slightest, and if I don't like the update at all, I wont update.
This is really simple people, quit complaining.

I use the FTB modpack, because it's fun, and extremely convenient.
I personally think that Minecraft doesn't need horses cause, here's why:
. We can ride pigs
. What would they drop?
. Could they breed?
. What would it look like in game?
.
Post what you think if Mojang should add horses or not and possibly give a reason.
You only gave 1 reason. The rest are just questions.
P.S. Minecraft doesn't need haters either.

No, horses are horses and pigs are pigs.
They are not the same, and they wouldn't be exactly the same in Minecraft.
I guess you do not understand the concept of analogy.
