Diamonds are harder than rubies, why do those not give such effect?? Just because the resistance potions give you red particals doesn't mean it's made with something red, pretty sure this is the case with alot of potions.
I just don't really like the idea of drinking an potion of liquid crystals.
Diamonds have their use (the best tools & armor, jukeboxes, and enchantment tables), and resistance potions are almost as good as regeneration. Their would have to be something more rare than diamonds for them. Besides, rubies in real life are more rare than diamonds.
I see you don't mind drinking liquids made from plants that are made of gold.
Apparently C418 was working on a crapload of music earlier this year. He created some End and Nether music, battle music, and creative music, main menu music, along with some other stuff. There is no doubt that Minecraft needs new music and atmosphere. Hopefully some revamped sound and new music will come in 1.5.

Now that is interesting. I recently finished playing Borderlands 2 and one my favorite things about that game was the excellent sound track. I would love it if minecraft had a music revamp.
I really want some more music and possibly atmospheric audio loops. I wonder what's happening with the creative mode music and all the other audio stuff C418 has planned. Here are some more stuffs I think should come and are likely:
- Player skin refactoring (So you can have different left and right arms/legs)
- Sponges
- Snow that piles up
- Friends list - More fishing related stuff
- More advanced/compacted redstone
- More world customizeability (Like being able to mess around with a fog/sky/water color palette for adventure maps and stuff)

On topic: I think the new mobs (witches, bats, wither skeletons, and withers) will probably get a lot of updates, just like what happened to endermen, with the eye color change and the new sounds. Along with that, I guess we'll get the redstone and lighting revamped... Oh, and more experience updates. Everyone loves experience

Call me crazy, but I would like more randomly generated structures. I love walking around on my server and finding things that sprung out of nowhere. More ruins, crypts, tombs, dungeons, that kind of thing. For instance, in snowlands, why not have Viking Runestones? or in oceans, sunken Columns? Things that make the game seem more like.... Whoa, i wonder what that came from!, and less of, oh yeah, saw that coming a mile away, looked it up, boring.
Mojang need to add lock and key, rideable horses, a new type of tamable villagers that turn into army men when tamed, guns, backpacks, and sentry guns. Those are things they need to add at some point.

We have plenty of transportation options. Super fast, limited transportation (minecarts), super fast, sea transportation (boats), extremely fast, dangerous transportation (Nether), and fast, free land transportation (pigs).

I am going to side with Doraku Guras here and say that, there is no superfast unlimited land transportation. Also, boats always seemed weird to me because they have no propulsion method other than the player. However, I must admit that I think transportaion is mostly useful on large biomes because all of the different biomes are farther apart.

Okay first off I think the thing that would help Minecraft, That s ; Mobs to drop more stuff! Now not like new items like them droping more of what they drop now! Chicken still drops one raw chicken but like 3 feathers! Pig 20 pork and cow 15 raw beef! The more the use for it less it will drop! Just an idea probely a mod but still.
Who cares if it's not going to be available soon? That doesn't mean we can't discuss it.

Sounds like a Team Fortress 2 update.
I think they should give 1.5 some time (2-5 months) before release. I'm still trying to get a hang of 1.4
