This means a new player will want to spawn next to chickens above all else. You will be able to make animal hunger farm within 1-3 minecraft days. Not sure how long chickens take to grow these day though. I rarely bother with them.
I'm not really opposed too it. Since I miss zombies dropping feathers and since that change flints value dropped drastically. (Still think chickens should drop more feathers since they have no other use besides arrows).

I wonder why we cannot pluck feathers without killing the bird?
Shears, perhaps?

Yes. it may also be possible that pigs are bred with carrots now too.
Although where chickens are concerned, many people might still just breed them by throwing eggs around. Still it's a nice addition, seeds do tend to build up.

I don't think the chickens would appreciate that. It's like a haircut for sheep, but not so much for chickens. Maybe they could molt their feathers every so often.

Well, I use arrows quite a bit so i'm use to farming chickens. When I don't need feathers and I have a lot of chickens, I tend to use eggs. But when I need the feathers I slaughter lots of the chickens (usually untill i have a stack of feathers) and repopulate my farm using wheat. So personally I think a combination of feeding and using eggs is the best way to go with chickens.
The good thing is now I'll have a use for all those extra seeds i throw away while farming wheat, it also means I can save my wheat exclusivley for my cow farm (unless they change the cows food to).

I actually really like the idea of them molting. I don't think they should do it nearly as often as they lay eggs but enough that if you have a large farm and regularly gather the eggs (and therefor the feathers they would molt) that you could have a relativley steady supply of feathers. Nice idea!
I don't think I could love Dinnerbone any more at this point. He's just so awesome... all the time.

Oh crap lol.
Fixing now...

...but that's just like, my opinion, man.
That'd be kinda nice. Currently there's very little reason to ever hold onto the extra seeds that come from harvesting and replanting wheat.

I'm glad they're actually going through with this, chickens would choke on a whole wheat bundle.
Those seeds build up after a while of wheat farming. Glad to hear about this.

I don't think they will add fried chicken.
