My feelings exactly. Villager AI needs to be improved so they don't wander outside at night and actively avoid zombies, golems should be made smarter so they run to the nearest door that is being bashed on (by hearing it) unless they are so far away it is out of hearing range, and most importantly, naturally generated villages should 'always' have at least one golem wandering around.
For the record both MC-7432 and MC-7488 appear to be fixed, so zombie sieges will now happen but start at the perimeter of a village, meaning the hard work of securing a village will now pay off.

Unless by "fixed" they really mean "we just took it out entirely, since the new zombie 'horde' mechanics from 1.6 do a good enough job of sieging villages already."
MogMiner was going to talk about this with the rest of the team today and mark MC-7432 as "Works as intended" instead of "Fixed" if the conclusion would be to remove sieges altogether. Since both MC-7432 and MC-7488 are marked as "Fixed" it leads me to believe the sieges are in place and working properly now. It doesn't solve the serious balance issues but at least secured villages will remain secured so once you make a wall or fence around the village and light it up to death you can safely walk away from it.
I would test this out myself but I wait for 14w25b's release tomorrow before I dare subject my survival world to the new snapshots. Possibly I'll even wait for a 14w25c or 14w26a if there are more show-stoppers discovered.
It appears that fixes for both MC-7432 and MC-7488 are in 14w25a: class is "yk", and the code shapes compared to previous versions look like fixes for both bugs are applied.

So what happens in the case of a base like mine? I'm sure the perimeter of the village is within my base so I'll get hordes of zombies inside of it...
I used NBT Explorer to find the center and radius, which are marked as indicated; as you can see the perimeter is almost entirely within even the fence around my base.
I didn't think of that, you are right. I might get zombies spawning inside my modern house which sits outside the main village walls. The obvious solution is to make them respect light levels (and also player proximity). If 14w25b is stable enough I'll be checking this out closely tomorrow.
Where does it say they will spawn around a perimeter? I imagine they will just have them spawn in reasonably dark areas. If you want your base to be completely siege proof, wall it off and light it up... Standard zombie defense. I picture zombie sieges being merely a large number of zombie spawning in areas that are not correctly lit up near villages. If they said they fixed the lighting-zombie-spawn bug and the siege element now works as it's supposed to, there should be nothing to worry or complain about in my opinion.
(As I said, how do I know the village radius and from where do I start to measure it?).
You measure it from the village center, which is the geometric center point of all the doors in the village (found by averaging their coordinates, then rounding the answer towards zero.) The radius itself is either the distance from the center point to whichever door is furthest from it (rounded up), or 32 blocks, whichever is greater.
Ugh, no Mojang! NO! They've been making Village mechanics and envrioments a bit too mch of a pain, and honestly the fact that a village will pretty much die as it is with no assistance from a Player, the Zombie AI buffs, the Golem and Villager spawning nerfs (Jeb you crossed the line.) , and the fact that Golems cant even get into houses. Not to mention Villagers will pretty much walk right into death, in the form of Fire, Lava, Cactus, and walking right into a burning Zombie thats outside the door. Yeah sure, lets add zombie sieges so that Villages have no chances of survival what-so-ever. Before they even THINK of adding those back in, Villager AI needs a buff, along with them getting regen, switching back to old spawning mechanics for both Villagers and Golems, improve Golem AI, add a new smaller Golem that has ranged capabilities, is smaller than the Iron Golems, and can use doors to kill those pesky Monsters.
Now that we have Farmers who will actively grow crops and feed the town for reproduction, we need Villagers who will go around and replace doors broken after Zombie Sieges. Or just give Villagers a door that is impervious to Zombies, leaving only those caught outside at night in true danger. Would definitely help the longevity of villages.

Well, you can also play on Normal difficulty, as I do (or Easy), although that doesn't help much since villagers will go outside as soon as the sun rises and before zombies burn up.
Eh, I probably won't notice. I just raid the crops, go to a blacksmith if there is one, and try to get some trades. Then I just leave it as is. Or burn it with flint and steel.

While I agree with your sentiments in general, zombie sieges were never "removed", they were simply broken and ended up getting fixed in this specific snapshot.
I hope they aren't the same as what they used to be. I've never actually experienced one but having zombies spawn in villages regardless of light would make them impossible to defend.
Making villages was already pretty complex when the village mechanics first began, then the villagers got more complex, now we have to try effectively protect them again without making our villages look like fortresses or non-villages.
They should just make zombies 'bust open' the doors, not break them down. Iron golems need to be better at not getting stuck on things or attacking things they cannot reach and also need to spawn in smaller villages. You have to be an expert just to make a simple village.

Don't forget now all mobs attack Iron Golems and Iron Golems attacking Creepers. So creepers blow up the village, Iron Golems die, Zombie Siege happening. Villages are completely doomed now!

Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
If there is a problem, can anyone explain that please?

Figured it was time for a change.
