First, take a look at this video by Dume85, very informative and covers everything there is to know about the mod!
The original RSMC was great fun, but I'll be honest: it could be messy at times. Minecraft updates were consistently breaking the mod, and it was becoming increasingly difficult to keep the mod up to community standards. However, I myself started a completely revised and rewritten version, and in time, the old mod will, with any luck, be lost in the shadow of what RSMC2 will become.

Things RSMC Does Not Offer
-Automation
Now that you have a general idea of what not to expect from this mod, let's explore the possibilities. RSMC merges many RPG features and elements into the worlds of Minecraft. Not only will you be able to get your hands on new items and blocks, you will experience progression in a game that has very little. You will train and perform various activities to gain experience (exp or xp) and level your skills (24 of them!), craft items in ways you never thought possible, cast magic spells, brew useful potions, among many other things.

Want to be a part of the team? Show us what you have to contribute (and don't just say "Because I've never tested anything and I am good at finding bugs" - we know better) and we'll let you into the system where you have access to the test server with the developers. We want you to contribute in some way (videos, art, models, publicity, etc.) and if you can do that, we're very likely to accept you! Send me a private message if you want in!
Stay tuned for updates, we want this mod to be the best it can be, but we can't do it without the support of the community!
Modest Texturer, Modeler, and Idea Provider. Can someone buy me Terraria, Borderlands 2, Goat Simulator, or Dead Island? Check my Profile for my contents, which includes a(n outdated) texture pack and a mod request! OcD Simple Add-On!
I know, it keeps doing that every time I update it. I'm going to fix it eventually, but I'm going to do it in a text file first so I can just copy and paste the changes over in-case it destroys itself again.
In the last 2 days, we have had 4383 code insertions, and 2229 deletions, wow! We are going to have some really amazing new features in RSMC2. We hope to post a changelog soon, and we want to create a real wiki too.

Omg I can't wait for it I'm clenching with excitement! Please work on this and don't stop please! It's a masterpiece I wish good luck.
Just some screenshots of our fires - this took me about 5 hours to get fine-tuned just where I wanted it - with the model made by one of our model makers. If you'd like to make models for the mod and be credited for help with its development, feel free to let me know - those who help drastically will be allowed private builds of the mod as we develop it and access to our exclusive server!
Now, some neat things about fires:
To light a fire, use a flint lighter on the top side of a log (must have been chopped and replaced). This will create a fire with a random degree of rotation (to make the fires vary between one another) that will begin to burn. As it burns, you'll notice the logs become darker, and by the time the first disappears, they will be completely black. This is so you can gauge how long the fire will continue to burn. You must have free space on all sides of the fire and a solid block beneath, or you will not be able to light it. You can see in the second picture that my fires are not burning anymore - to extinguish a fire (and thus freeze its burn timer), you may simply place a block next to it and this will remove the flame, or rain will cause the fire to fizzle out. To relight it, simply apply another spark with a flint lighter. Finally, items thrown into the fire will be destroyed and creatures will be burned by it.
I hope this gives you a nice taste of what is to come, and just a reminded that any models are appreciated. We want OBJ models, though, so if you want into the development team in some way, learn to use a 3D modeling program like Blender or Wings!
As a person that is most definitely not involved with the production of this mod in any way I can say with confidence that its completion will be an event with an impact on the world comparable to the birth of baby Jesus.

Sick of Runescape mods for Minecraft that are horrible, awful, broken, and in some cases not even made? Yeah, so was I, until I got roped into the RSMC team. It's basically perfect.
I've never played RuneScape, but skills... me gusta skills.
Oh, Guff, will it be feature-compatible with your other mod? (asking because you seemed like the captain of the team)

Yes. We will be using Plunder Rummage as a way of getting unobtainable items (for example black armor and tools) as well as random obtainable items. I'm going to manually give the bars from RSMC the ability to be crushed with ProSthetics (since the material analysis won't work for RSMC). BBMM will probably be getting several creation tags from this mod that allow users to add new recipes to anvils, smelters, ranges, etc. Minor Alchemy is the last thing on my to-do list, though, if I even bother with it. The fact that it will take so long to give different items a value is a daunting task that will probably take up enough time, but to make sure the values are fair and balanced is even worse. If anyone wants to do that, feel free. *cough cough hint hint someone should do it so I don't have to*
Woodcutting and mining are working now, giving XP, and preventing players from gathering resources when they are too low level. I've heard some beta testers express some interest in being able to get some XP (probably like 1/10th of the lowest item) from gathering Minecraft ores and logs, can I get some more feedback on this?
I support these entirely! I've played Runescape for over 5 years, and it will be AWESOME to see this implemented into MC. It'd be cool if you guys could make this into a server mod and put it on a server! Runescape on Minecraft multiplayer go!

We are developing simultaneously for both client and servers. I'm hosting a server right now with the latest dev build automatically pushed to it every time it's build for the fastest testing possible. Be on the lookout for future opportunities to become a tester

Hey, a house made out of essence blocks doesn't look half bad, and is VERY explosion resistant!
