I personelly dont see what the issue is other then just another whiner that didnt get his way or somthing dumb like that....
Realy everything added in 1.8 has been a blast for me the new food system? cake just hack up some pigs or whip out some bone meal and whip up a giant mushroom farm and make mushroom soups or the like 30 other ways to get more then enough food....think of it as preparing for a adventure instead of a short trip...your gonna want to pack alot of food which now STACKS! *sigh* What a chore!....
as for abandon mines I sorta agree on the odd near useless stuff out of the chests but WHO CARES? you get the exact damn thing out of
monster spawn rooms you randomly find and their a bit harder to find at that...
and for the endermens I think their awesome even if their drops are useless atm it just means IN TIME there will be a use
people whine WAY to much about things they get for free...if Notch and compeny were making us PAY for the content updates
then yea I can see complaining a bit but even then the game is not even finished yet...so quit crying about stuff and enjoy the game..
or like some have stated go play somthing else
I personelly am a loyal fan of Notch and now his crew ever since I first layed eyes on minecraft back when it was NOTHING but creative mode and hardly even that.. their doing a great job with the game and I personelly can not wait to see whats to come with upcoming patchs!
sorry for the long rant but I just get realy annoyed when I see people whine about such trivial stuff....
your arguments aren't even compelling, it's just the same old ******** that boils down to "i don't like the new features." you complain about npc villages making the game too easy but now that you have to charge your bow, or eat to refill hunger, the game's too hard? you make no sense man, do you want the game to be easier or harder - and personally the addition of critical hits makes killing mobs so much easier for me, not sure why you're having issues.
solution > downgrade. and stop posting the same thing that's been posted a hundred times already.
The new bow is great. I made my first ever diamond sword in 1.8 because before I only used swords to slaughter pigs.
I don't understand how some think the food system makes the game harder, I think it's easier. Just wait after a battle and I have all my hearts back, and I can bring silly amount of food down into the caves.
The different biomes are now awesome.
The new lighting beautiful.
Great update in my opinon. But Endermen, what a pest they were, luckily I have now modded away their griefing ability.
1.8 is the awesome sauce and as for Enderman, a moat takes care of that little pest nicely. By the way, there is a switch in the world creation where you can turn off NPC structures (Villiages and mines).
I'm a little disappointed by the sparsity of villages and abandoned mineshafts etc. I've made three new creative maps just to see what they were like and despite searching for half an hour on each I couldnt find any D:
Also, 1.8 somehow makes my game incredibly laggy almost all the time.
Third, I dont really get how blocking works, does it make attacks do less damage or what?
However, the new lighting is a vast improvement and makes the world look so much better.
Biomes, ravines, rivers etc. all make the game so much nicer to look at and offer better incentives to explore.
I didn't think enderman were meant to be rare considering how weak they are. I think I killed one with two arrows.
Also, the new eating/hunger system is good, it doesnt make you eat all the time which is good. However, it should be toggle-able because some people just dont want it and therefore have to go on peaceful which takes all the fun out of the game.
Overall, I think it's a definite improvement and makes the game much more attractive but it could do with a little tailoring.

Creeper makes attempt on my life. He dead now.
Enderman moves block of my castle. I find him. He dead now.
The food system makes the game harder. Wait.. wasn't that what you were complaining about in the first 'point'?
Biomes are much larger. I don't know what you're talking about.
Mineshafts aren't supposed to be made of diamonds. They're there for a more 'adventure' like feel to the game.
Exp points aren't supposed to do anything yet.
First of all, it's ENDERMEN. Not slender. Also, they are just as difficult to kill as any other mob. Maybe harder.
Go out in the real world and see how fast you can shoot a bow. Go on. I dare you.
Sprinting is a great feature. But it hasn't ruined old maps. Want to play them? Don't sprint. Hey presto! It worked.
New lighting? Making you lag? Go buy a better computer.
I agree with every point you made aside from the part about the bow. Go out into the ral world and see how fast you can punch your way through an entire tree? Go on, I dare you. Or even better see how fast you can build a house single handedly. Minecraft isn't supposed to be realistic. It's minecraft for god sakes!!
Actually, I love this new update. I think the bow and arrow system actually makes sense now, I love the fact that npcs will be coming soon.... I mean this update is just the beginning.... The next update will add uses to many currently useless things

please no more HErobrine threads, It waS kinda cool at fiRst, but now thEy Are just fLat out annoying.
New lighting. People say its beatiful. Its true, but it makes really large waves of lag. I had to turn fog to small and turn th smooth lighting off and change fancy to fast. Still it lags a little.
oh boo hoo your high end pc can't run with no lag any more... boo hoo, be happy you could play w/o the lowest settings before the patch, i have always had to do that, and at least you can play MP, if i tried that, BOOM, no more usage of this laptop.
so get happy, sure the patch isn't so good, but it's better than nothing
I have lots and lots of reasons why this 1.8 was a disapointment. No, minecraft is awesome game. I liked it, I have played it since alpha. But after 1.8, its now garbage. Everything is lame now. Heres a little short list of the bad things. Sadly, there were too much bad things about this brand new 1.8 so its long.
First of all, the npc houses make the minecraft too easy. There are ready farms, craftbenchs, houses to live, everything you need. It makes minecraft too easy. Also, houses look plain UGLY. Oh, only one thing about them are good. They are fun to burn. Hey, wait a minute. WHERE ARE THE NPC PLAYERS?
I'm sure this thought never crossed what you pass as a mind, but if the NPC villages make it to easy for you... don't use them. That's akin to saying you don't want a free meal, but then eating everything in my fridge.
They aren't abundant by any means, so if you think they are ugly, torch them and leave. It's really not a complicated process. Your complaint is moot.
Also, had you paid any attention to the details being released with the pre-releases, and then the final patch, you would be keenly aware of the fact that NPC's will be arriving next patch. See, when you are coding such a large project with such a small team, it becomes essential to break it into manageable chunks.
The food system sucks now. You can't heal yourself, just eat. The food bar regenrates hearts too slowly, and that makes spiders poison make you die soooo easily. And eating takes long. You know, it sucks. Community's player made maps like puzzlemaps and escapemaps are now ruined, because you have to keep eating to be alive.
ZOMG! You have to think about how to approach combat now? You can't just charge in, resting easy knowing your porkchops will keep you miraculously alive? What has this world come to?
Biomes. Theres nothing changet about them. Notch said there's going to be alot of new biomes and larger biomes, but he lied. Only one new biome, seriously? And no, no. no larger biomes. Never seen them. And looks like chunk errors are really hard to remove...
You have either A) the worst luck imaginable, or more likely B ) No idea what you are talking about. My very first new 1.8 map spawned me in a forest that took a good 5 minutes of straight walking to get out of. That is significantly larger than the forests of before that took all of 45 seconds to get through.
Abandoned mineshafts. They are endless, crappy, boring and useless. It may be few seconds fun to explore them, but after awhile you realize that the mineshafts last forever, and the stuff in rare chests are crappy and useless. And sometimes mineshafts float around in caves, and that makes the game look dumb.
Ok, I can partially agree with you here. The coding involved in their spawning is probably tricky, to be sure, but they can be more hassle then they are worth. HOWEVER, nobody is forcing you to explore them. Nobody except for you, that is.
Slendermen. Major disapointment. They were going to be scary, rare and hard to kill. Bulls**t. They appear too often, and that makes them less rare and scary. And if you punch them few times, poof! Slenderman has died, and dropped an useless slenderpearl! Not so challenging. They walk glitchy, and their teleporting looks like a stupid glitch. When you look at them, I though you had some staring contest. Wrong, once again. He starts to attack with weak attacks that doesn't cause so much damage. Slendermen don't always see that you look at them, so they dont work so good. And he was going to be fast too, oh cmon!
Another weird thing about BETA... sometimes things don't work as intended right away. How strange.
Bows charging system. Retarded. Do I have to say more? Okay, now with this new ''update'' its WAY too hard to kill mobs. Chargin is slow, and this makes it lame. My chest filled with arrows is now useless, because I am not going to use bow again.
Charging takes less than 1 second. I hate to see how fast paced your life is if that is slow to you. Again, this is just something that makes it so you have to put in a modicum of effort to get anything done, and you claim this is too hard. Yet, again, earlier, you were complaining about houses making everything to easy. Which is it?
Sprinting. Well this is a good one, but doing it is the darn bad thing about it. Once when in a cave I was exploring, there was lava around me and I was searching for diamonds. I had to be really careful, just because I wouldn't fall in lava. I used W key to walk slowy, but when I accidently double-tapped it, the character ran'd into lava. So much for that trip. Sprinting ruined parkour maps, you can cheat now. Its possible that it ruined some other maps.
So, since you were clumsy on the keyboard, a new mechanic sucks? That logic doesn't make sense. As for the parkour maps, you are looking at it wrong. The old ones may be to easy now (to which again I say *BETA*, nothing was promised to be permanent), however, think of all the new dimensions that it provides for new map possibilities.
Is there more? Of course. I would keep writing, but that would take forever.
TL;DR : 1.8 was a major disapointment. Its the truth, deal with it.
You stating this as "the truth" has a fundamental error in judgment. Firstly, it is an opinion. It is impossible for an opinion to be quantified as 100% fact due to the variance in personal preferences. Secondly, I don't take baseless claims, supported by zero evidence, and voiced by poor spelling and grammar, to be the booming echoes of reality.
TL; DR Less QQ, moar pewpew.. I mean, more mining.
