Many people think this is a rant, it really isn't. I'm just saying what I dislike with the newest patch. If they didn't want my opinion they shouldn't of made this section of the forums.
The only thing I really don't like in this update is the new water particles which generate tons of lag. Experience orbs also should be removed until they have a use, since all they do as well is create lag.

There have been far more belligerent ways of expressing disdain and dissatisfaction with the game demonstrated than what the OP did with this thread. There will never be an update to ANY game that doesn't come without disagreement and criticism. Save your complaining for people who actually deserve it.

- Glass Panes look graphically better than Glass.
- When an Iron Bar or a Glass Pane is placed, it looks like an x. It should be similar to a fence since it shares the same characteristics as it. Possibly giving us the ability to have metal and glass poles.
- Melon Slices look like watermelon slices and come from a yellow melon, rather than a green melon as it's shown.
- All pumpkins still have carved faces.
- Tables are not a craftable block and cannot even be used to hold cakes. In addition, anything bigger than a 1x1 table will have spaces inbetween them.
- The Melon's & Pumpkin's stem doesn't extend past the one block they started from. Instead they grow upward and then tilt to a block next to them which then generates the fruit.
- We got Melons instead of watermelons.
- We're able to craft 9 melon slices into a melon.

Here's my responses to your opinions in order:
-How are glass panes looking better, in your opinion, than glass blocks something you dislike? Sounds like a nice new addition to me.
-Iron bars and glass panes flatten out to normal when there is a block or another one of them next to them. Not exactly like fences but they're not supposed to be.
-The melon skin is yellowish-green like some types of watermelon. We don't see the whole back of the rind in the slice but it looks like it matches the melon to me.
-If the pumpkins didn't come pre-carved then how would we carve them in-game? I'm curious to read what your ideal situation would be.
-It kinda sucks but there are still piston tables and there is no information that Mojang will never add a table block. By the way, the pressure plate "tables" still look fairly nice in my opinion.
-I agree that the melon stem would ideally work differently but on the bright side people can make efficient watermelon farms.
-Now this is just being picky. Yes, there are many types of melons and watermelons are considered a melon (they don't belong to the right genus but what the hell) but they are obviously watermelons. There is always a chance for a name change in the future unless there is some cap in how long the names of items can be which caused them to be called melons.
-Yeah, it's not very realistic but is the ability to magically, seamlessly combine 9 ingots of metal into a block any more realistic or believable?
So yeah, there's some food for thought. I have to say, with a sincere lack of sarcasm, that your list is filled with the most unique dislikes from this patch. Congrats!
-How are glass panes looking better, in your opinion, than glass blocks something you dislike? Sounds like a nice new addition to me.
For one, they use different colors, ones that are more appealing. Put a Glass block next to a Glass Plane block and you will see that a glass block looks like garbage now.
-Iron bars and glass panes flatten out to normal when there is a block or another one of them next to them. Not exactly like fences but they're not supposed to be.
I already know this. I'm just annoyed with the x part of it, it doesn't make sense and looks rather stale and poor. You're pretty much required to place down two bars or glass in order for it to look nice.
-The melon skin is yellowish-green like some types of watermelon. We don't see the whole back of the rind in the slice but it looks like it matches the melon to me.
There isn't such a type of watermelon with a yellow exterior, only interior. Clearly the interior is red in minecraft, which correct me if I'm wrong, is only found in a watermelon. If you happen to find a yellow exterior watermelon (not melon), then send a picture. Also, if you can't see the green exterior on a melon slice, then I donno what to say.
-If the pumpkins didn't come pre-carved then how would we carve them in-game? I'm curious to read what your ideal situation would be.
By crafting it into a Jack-o-lantern. Notch did say that lights will not remain infinitly lit. So when a jack-o-latern goes out, what will it become, a regular carved pumpkin with a missing torch?
-Now this is just being picky. Yes, there are many types of melons and watermelons are considered a melon (they don't belong to the right genus but what the hell) but they are obviously watermelons. There is always a chance for a name change in the future unless there is some cap in how long the names of items can be which caused them to be called melons.
It's not being picky, is asking for mojang to be more professional and make some better finishing touches. It's like saying, "I don't feel like fixing the spelling mistakes on a label because it wouldn't change anything".
-Yeah, it's not very realistic but is the ability to magically, seamlessly combine 9 ingots of metal into a block any more realistic or believable?
You're able to melt 9 ingots together to form a block, you cannot put 9 slices of melon together to create a melon. It just wouldn't come out good. Good enough for it to even be considered a melon.
So yeah, there's some food for thought. I have to say, with a sincere lack of sarcasm, that your list is filled with the most unique dislikes from this patch. Congrats!
There are yellow watermelons in Thailand actually :tongue.gif:

I agree that the panes and bars should operate more like fences, they don't line up right sometimes. My only other complain right now is Endermen don't have a unique sound :sad.gif:

In Thailand they have green watermelons as well. What your picture most likely shows is a watermelon with an altered or a lack of a gene. I'm assuming it's quite rare, sort of like an albino. I mean, there is very little information about these watermelons on the internet.

Logical probably. Ever thought that Mojang have given Minecraft a realistic element; but have not made it so realistic that it is an accurate representation of real life?
OMG my melon is slightly yellow and watermelons are supposed to be green!!! .I'm not playing minecraft anymore because of this MAJOR in-game flaw that makes Minecraft unplayable....
For one, they use different colors, ones that are more appealing. Put a Glass block next to a Glass Plane block and you will see that a glass block looks like garbage now.
Apparently the top of the glass blocks is the same texture as the glass pane sides...which is indeed better looking than the glass block sides. How did I not notice the difference before? It's weird because I'm looking at the texture.png and don't see different textures for the sides.
I already know this. I'm just annoyed with the x part of it, it doesn't make sense and looks rather stale and poor. You're pretty much required to place down two bars or glass in order for it to look nice.
Putting blocks next to the pane does the same. Any block would do. Going by personal experimentation with panes, the cross pattern from a free standing glass pane or iron bar could be what allows the system to make crosses with many panes/bars.

Can't find a picture that looks like the Minecraft melons but I'm sure they exist. Just like how there are different colors of apples or different color carrots.
Oh, and I admit the the side of the rind looks green but we don't know what the rest of it looks like.
It's not being picky, is asking for mojang to be more professional and make some better finishing touches. It's like saying, "I don't feel like fixing the spelling mistakes on a label because it wouldn't change anything".
It could be that there is a limitation in the software design that limits how many characters a name can be, like the Ragecandybar in Pokemon. I believe Watermelon slice/seeds would be the longest inventory item name. If this limit existed then having the fruit be called watermelon and the rest melon seeds/slice would be sloppy. I don't know for sure though, maybe they have other reasons for not adding the "water" part.

You can but you don't put them furnace you put them in a magical 3x3 grid that makes them seamlessly blend together. This is similar to how the tools are made or bread, some suspension of belief is needed. This is a video game and not a simulator.

..... I wish I had a vote down button for each time I saw someone demanding that.
Anyway, the only thing that has bothered me with 1.8 is the lag... I've already reverted to 1.7 because of it. The pre-release didn't even lag this much for me.
Oh, and I admit the the side of the rind looks green but we don't know what the rest of it looks like.
You can see the shapes of those cut watermelons look different then the melons behind them. In addition you can roughly see that their exteriors are green. Therefore those so called "yellow watermelons" in the background are most likely just melons, not watermelons.
I like hunger system, but i don't like how it only heals us when we're at full hunger bar. if anything, i think the hunger bar should be ratio to how fast we heal up instead. still checking some of the other stuff out.
Off-Topic: I love how we can finally keep a list of all our favorite minecraft server!
I still wish there was a better way to find servers that are going to be around for awhile. I can't seem to find any. As soon as I start playing one. I come on the next day, and it's gone. Are there any servers for Minecraft that are going to be more "permanent" than a few days and then the server disappears from my Added servers list? I just started playing Minecraft so maybe i am missing where all the big boys play. Cause it's hard to find good MC servers to play on. That is my only dislike.

You craft a cake on a crafting table.
