I just read on the wiki the farlands might be removed in 1.8. The reason is that there is no farlands in this pre-release. Do you think the farlands will be removed or not? And do you want them to be removed?
Why would they be?
I don't see a reference. I think someone just put that there because they heard it without proof.
Edit: I mean, the reference is in the wrong place...and not by Notch or anyone.

Farlands can never go away, as it is always generating and farlands are so faro ut why would it matter?
It would take, what, 8+ hours of constant walking to get there.
There will always be a farland, if it WILL be fixed, send a source/proof.
Pics or it won't happen
The farlands are caused because Java can't handle the huge co-ordinates, so unless notch has somehow modded Java to handle such huge numbers, it's not gonna happen.
Ya, I thought the farlands were just fetting FARTHER away in 1.8. It seems to be impossible to remove them as they are basicley an area too far from the start to acctualy generate without making minecraft UBERHAXORZLAGGY! Just a thought though I could be completley wrong :biggrin.gif:

856 hours, 36 minute and some seconds, if you walk constantly without swimming, jumping or falling.
If they did, it would be a massive waste of time, Java messes up because it can't handle the massive amount of chunks, so the farlands happens, so, if Notch did 'fix it', he would merely increase those numbers, making the farlands farther away. Plus, inevitably, it's pointless, the only way to realistically get there is through haxing.

farland's on wiki, on biomes, its impossible to reach it without haxing
Search in minecraftwiki... :dry.gif:
A bug? I don't think so. They were an uncompleted area, as far as I know. Not a bug.

Not quite. The far lands are what's generated when the world runs out of seed, I think.
