The only reason I play minecraft anymore is for my Hardcore PvP Server. People PVP On the server everyday, the classic things they bring are:
Iron Armour
Diamond Sword
7 Soups
Now, before Hunger was introduced, you took 3 hits from a D sword in Armour, you'd be on the verge of death. You eat a Soup and continue fighting. With Hunger, it completly ruins PVP. 3-4 hits and its over. No skill involved. I think it needs to have the option to disable so that PvP Servers arent completly ruined.
When Disabled, the following should be turned off/changed.
• 1.6 Second Eat: Hard to just stop and eat while getting hit with a sword
• Maximum Sprint: If disabled, then make the Sprint timed.
I like the Hunger idea, its great for Survival. But for PvP, it isn't. Please consider, and give feedback!

In light of it looking like an actual complaint, it's like I said before. Now you have to pick your battles and actually learn a thing or 2 about defense. PvP has been ENHANCED because of this. If you learn to keep your hunger full often, you'll get health regen. Then it comes down to avoidance. PvP takes MORE skill than ever.
If hunger was being REMOVED, and food instantly healed you, people would have this same complaint. That it takes "0 skill".

If you learn to keep your hunger full often, you'll get health regen. Then it comes down to avoidance. PvP takes MORE skill than ever.

Hunger regerated your healthj Every 5 seconds, and heals 1/2 a Heart. Do you think that'll benefit you at all in a Sword to Sword combat? If your saying what we have to do now is run away from eachother after every hit and wait 15 seconds to gain 1 1/2 hearts, then Id rather them just code a plugin to remove it.
So its not skill, its running. Ruining the fun of PvP.

Yeah there has to be a way to fix the unlimited sprint. Or else combat will be pointless. "Oh damn i got shot. Im just gonna sprint away and not get hit again"

Seriously, Minecraft is not a PvP game, despite what people have turned it into. There will be an old-school PvP mod, I guarantee it. Have patience, then you can get back to your connection-based "fun".

There doesn't need to be an oldschool PvP mod, just make hunger have the option to disable.

Would food just heal you in real life? NO, but Notch should definetly add someway to get insta health, maybe fruits give you insta health or maybe a med kit, IDK, but the hunger bar should not be optional, then you ruin the point of survival, DUH.
You're an idiot. Munching on healing items doesn't make PvP better. It makes it long and drawn out. Whoever runs out first. It pretty much prolonging the results. Now, you have to make it count. And with upcoming improvements to combat, it'll only get better.

This. I love that mining is such a big part of the game, but I hate being under there for more than a few minecraft days. It gets creepy and I get paranoid, or I get greedy and end up dying in lava. Exploring and developing the overworld is my favorite part. Skulking about the new forests hunting pigs and chicken, sighting an enderman and hoping to get in two fully charged bow shots before he gets to me, etc
These new things have made the game so much more fun for me.

So you want a PVP mode that doesn't reward people for being good at combat, striking first, doing more damage, but rewards them for how fast they can replenish their health by eating in combat?
