I did a little looking around and couldn't really find this question, or any corresponding answers, anywhere here so I figured why not ask.
When 1.8 drops, I'm planning on spawning a new world using the famous 'Glacier' seed. I'm certain most people are familiar with this seed, as it has several large peaks right near the spawn.
My question is will the seeds that we've come to know since the feature was added be viable post 1.8? Will Glacier still still form its massive peaks? Or will the update change the spawns too?
Quick question: Will we still be able to input seeds for world generation in 1.8? I understand they'll generate different worlds than pre-1.8 if yes, but some folks seem to be saying the ability to enter seeds for world generation is "going away", i.e., we won't be able to enter seeds at all after 1.8. Is this true? Thanks.

From what I've heard, there will be no way to input seeds at world generation, but you will be able to view your seed with the F3 key.
It's believed to be in the new menu (I think it was called "world options") on the new world screen, along with settings for whether to have villages. They could certainly enter them at PAX (since people were testing Glacier and other seeds), and we couldn't see it on the main screen, so it must be on the options one.
I'm hoping this is the case. The fact that one can see the seed name with F3 is reassuring, and it'd be kinda hard for folks to share worlds without the option to generate specific ones. Thanks for the info!

Use some common sense. Why would they show the seed if you couldn't use it?
