as we all probably know that were going to have to restart our lives in minecraft to get all of the cool new perks of the 1.8. First off im not bashing 1.8 for rendering my 45mb world that ive spent over a hundred hours working at improving my life in minecraft, im simply saying that i, along with nearly all other minecrafters will be forced to make a choice. Stick with a few changes to 1.7.3 on your old world, or explore a new world filled with ravines, rivers, strongholds, villages, and many new epic changes to the game. what do you thinks the better choice?

As mentioned prior, you can move structures, etc, with mcedit to your 1.8 world. Yes, it's work, but it's still much easier then rebuilding it all.
Though I am likely to abandon my world and start fresh, seek out new adventures, and eventually find my new home in the new, beautiful world... and then conquer every NPC village I see and force them to farm me food! >=D or maybe not. I wish.
All the new things will get generated in old worlds, you just have to go to new chunks. But that's just terrain generation, everything else will still be there (like Endermen, hold-to-charge bows, hunger, XP, creative mode, etc).
i almost never had a real world i never wanted to leave,i once had that kind of world, but some ****ing thieves stole it and since then i never had a realy "important" world. so no probs for me to start all over.
ENDERMAN,HERE I COME!!!
Yeah. Ready to start a new world. The game is in Beta, we're beta testers. That means we can't get too used to our saves, because we have more testing to be done. /GLaDoS

i still have worlds that i made befor the nether update... i never play on them though so they arent even converted yet.
I kinda like the idea of playing on our old worlds, except when 1.8 comes out we shall trek to uncharted areas: to make an epic journey to faraway lands to explore new areas!
Hmm , creative mode can use the same world as survival does? , you could go in creative and rebuild your stuff as it was in your 1.7.3 world and then switch back to survival? It would be far easier to use MC edit since i dont know how to use it :biggrin.gif:
My world is something I love... But TBH i've been slowly growing bored of it being the same DIGGY DIGGY build build find coal make torches , Ect I cant wait for the update :biggrin.gif: NPC's will make me so happy. Millenaire made me crash every time after 3 mins...

No, all upgrades and stuff for 1.8 will only be on a world made in 1.8
The source is Notch. Pay attention.
That's the exact opposite of what he said. He said that the new features wouldn't be avaliable in 1.7.3 maps, and you'd have to create a new world.
They were reassuring that we wouldn't lose everything in the older worlds by updating to 1.8.
