The nice thing about golems is that they can be made out of anything.
Wood Golems,
Stone Golems,
Metal, fire, cheese...whatever.
In terms of MC, stone and wood options might be really handy for some kind of lightweight utility golems, marginally more useful than the snow golems already in play.
I don't count Iron golems as utility mobs. Considering they can and will kill you, in less than three seconds.
I'm not sure what the real definition of utility mob is, but I'm saying it's the 4th mob we can create or tame to use in large devices or home defense. lol
I'm liking the Golems. Two types come to mind immediately:
Mechanical Golem: Crafted with three pistons and a furnace. Requires fuel. When fueled, it mines straight ahead a 3x3 tunnel at the speed of a stone pickaxe. When its storage (nine stacks of stuff) fills, it stops moving.
Sticky Golem: Crafted with slowsand. Grabs mobs and holds them for later killing.
**** me we do! Hmm, dont know if we should have many more. A farm golem would be nice. One that cant till soil but will replant it/harvest it/leave it in a chest. Take the monotony out of farming. But make it expensive. For ballance. Iron with a gold heart?
Monotony? What? Dude, the entire game of Minecraft is just just that basically, it's what makes it awesome

I like how Pumpkin is a magic thing that gives life to stuff.
Personally I feel that the effect of giving life to things should somehow involve soul sand. It makes sense. It's sand. With souls in it. And one of those souls would take control of the snow or iron body you create for it, and in exchange for giving them a body they fight for you.

Sand isn't sticky, it's just hard to walk in when you sink in it.
In that case it would be a golem turtle that walks under mobs so they can sink into its back.
Where do you get that it isn't sticky? A slowing effect implies some stickyness. Like quicksand. It is sticky to an extent. Besides. We're not here to discuss the stickyness of various blocks. We're here to talk about golems.

I interpret soul sand's "stickiness" as the souls trapped inside of it trying to pull you in.

We have iron golems.
Do you know what's coming next? :biggrin.gif:
I'm so excited about the idea of new golems... it seems that we are going to have more good uses for pumpkins.
So... can you try to guess the next puppet will be?
I think it will be... ummm... Fire golems!!!
New snapshot.
or a golem ,made with blaze rods that you can send into a huge dark cavern and it will place torches for you.

I am aware, but it's the stickiest block in the game aside from sticky pistons and cobwebs. And you can't collect cobwebs.

It's funny you should say that- I think they should add gold golems to give gold a use, as it is extremely weak in its current state.
