Darn! You beat me to it. I was just typing a post:
I just figured I would check the Mojang site, and they said it has been released! I checked the Minecraft.net site but didn't see any notes about it on the download page.
"We are excited to announce that Minecraft 1.1 is out!
Jeb and Jon have been hard at work squashing bugs and creating amazing new features.
Below is a list of some of the added features:
- Bow Enchantments
- Golden Apple recipe
- New language translations.
- Slightly smoothed color transitions between biomes
- Reduced brewing time to 20 seconds
- Added spawn eggs to creative (the colors of the eggs even look like the mobs)
- Added world type options (currently only super-flat and default)
- Removed collision box from ladders
- Sheep eat grass and regain their wool
Plus many bug fixes!

They forgot to mention, Magma Slimes now drom MAGMA CREAM!!! I tested it that they drop it if you kiil them, but not all the time, I killed a few and only 1 gave me a magma cream, so thats interesting.
So I've been testing with the bow enchantments and I got 3 enchantmnets:
Punch
Flame
Power
Power goes up to V, Flame goes up to III and Punch also goes up to III
Those are the enchantments I got from enchanting 9 bows, I'm not sure if theres more but these are the ones I got, and its basicly the same with other tools, I got 3 of those enchantments on 1 bow, so Its posible to get all of them on 1.
Punch is like knockback, Power is like Shrpness, it just makes the arrows make more damage and Flame is the best, it shoots flaming arrows and sets mobs on fire, but it does not put the block it hits on fire, I've tested it with wooden planks and they diden't get put on fire.
Also if you have the Power and Flame on it it oneshots and cooks the food for you, its epic :biggrin.gif:
Was curious about the bow enchantments. Thanks to looking in to it. :biggrin.gif:
Now that he release it before all the other things are finished, I wonder how many versions it will be before everything that is being worked on at the moment is released.
Villager AI improvement will be an update. Modding API will be an update. That's already 1.3. More worldtypes could come in one of those updates.
I'm really hoping they get all these NEEDED game mechanics in place and working properly by March so they can start working on the less priority features such as more uses for slime balls, more redstone devices, and new decorative updates. We're still waiting for the major crafting update that Minecraft deserves.
Crafting interesting things in Minecraft is important too. You just can't improve upon literally every other major aspect of the game without improving this aspect as well. This is the most import aspect. Don't ignore it.
Do we have information regarding the exact effects of the bow enchantments yet? We know what Infinity does, but how much of an effect does each successive level of Power/Flame/Punch have? And what are the chances of getting each one? Also, what are the enchantment IDs? I'm guessing 36-39.

That is still great, any is better than none.
If you're on a Bukkit server, then they don't upgrade until Bukkit upgrades. And Bukkit doesn't upgrade the very 1st second an update is released.

And instant meal cooking, that's very helpful.

11v47a prereleased is compatible with 1.0.0 servers. Just search the forum or google for that version and it should work.

Just checked.
The answer is no. The terrain appears identical to 12w01a, including some of the buggy looking beaches.
They took 40 blocks. That’s as many as four tens. And that’s horrible.
