Funny. There is nothing in any of the version history information (Beta version history and Release version history) about any changes to the damage dealt by mobs any time after 1.6, in fact the only change I found was a reduction in player-to-mob damage which is the opposite of what you're talking about.
Either you used to play on a harder difficulty or you are just making things up.
It has to do with the change in coding for how quickly a skeleton fires (changed at 1.8) and the armor changes of 1.0.0 that have really made the game too easy, even on Hard (which is the mode he's playing on).
I also believe a skeleton's accuracy was affected by the 1.8 change.

The skeleton stuff is not a change to skeletons, but a change to bow mechanics in general. Frankly the change to bow mechanics made it far more balanced since prior to that change the player could use the bow like a machine gun.
And no, he specifically said "The mobs damage has changed without armor" (it's right there in the post I quoted, very first sentence) which is incorrect.

I find it funny how when you stand still ghasts and skeletons rarely hit you, ghasts shoot way above your head and skeletons shoot around you.
May i ask in what way mobs changed and why they are less scary/hard now?
1.0.0 :
- Weapon damage was decreased
- Enderman AI had some changes
- Skeletons now use the bow in the right way
The only thing that could be considered a problem is armor.
But armor, why do we use armor?, Try playing on hard without armor, even diamond sword if you want, one hit from an enemy deals 3 hearts of damage ( skeles, zombies ), some do 4 ( Zpigman ), and some others INSTAKILL ( creeper, ghast ) the player.
So, there is the answer of why armor is necessary, it makes the game easy but because without that armor we will be death before we stand a chance.
I'm not sure I understand your sense of humor, nor do I understand how that relates to my comment which you quoted, but good for you I guess.
I don't know why I quoted you but have you ever stood still while a ghast attacks? With the skeleton one time I was trying to die because I was testing something. I was standing 7 blocks away from a skeleton waiting for it to kill me and it kept shooting next to me or above my head. It did that about 6 or 7 times then actually started hitting me.
In terms of combat balance, if I can beat the game in leather armor with a stone sword(that includes fighting blazes in the nether and fighting enderman AND killing the dragon with only melee) not to mention on HARD difficulty, the game is a joke. Btw, that was on hardcore to boot. Iron is way too easy to get, easier to get then leather armor. Diamond is easy to get only if you set your sights on it and spend a couple hours getting it. Once you get diamond you are essentially in creative mode and are indestructible not to mention you take less damage if you block while swimming in lava.
I can usually run around naked with a diamond sword and not even get scratched. It's mostly about how much lag you have. I usually have around 35fps so mobs are just walking cheese to me.
Hopefully, Mojang will add/change whatever it actually is about the armor/difficulty level that you don't like.
You say that as if it isn't clear. It's obvious what I don't like... the fact that armor has such a ridiculously high damage reduction that lasts a long time. The damage reduction is so high with iron armor that all monsters basically do 1/2 a heart damage no matter what difficulty you're playing on. Therefore the difficulty levels have become meaningless. Isn't it obvious why this is a problem? How can you possibly think this doesn't need to be fixed?
I agree, it is too easy now. I once took on 2 skeletons 2 zombies 1 spider and a creeper with a stone sword and barely got a scratch. I remember in 1.7 I would always play on peacefull when exploring in caves. Now I have no problem with them.

I built the most complex machine in Minecraft ever! It is...
A dirt house...
The new armor is pretty ridiculous, especially full diamond armor. You can pretty much take a bath in lava for a good 45 seconds before you even start taking damage. And then, there's enchanted armor...
The worst part about armor is that Iron is so easy to get. You don't even need to mine for anything but diamond, and iron armor is twice as strong as it used to be.

Well, the way I see it is minecraft is about building amazing structures and having fun with friends. If you want a challenge when it comes to fighting go play a fighting game. I'm sure when 1.0 came out they where more focused on the amazing surge in incredible buildings. Example: when halo first had forge you couldn't really do anything until the map sandbox came out. They where expecting fighting and a few custom building, but by the end off halo 3 there where amazing and creative art takings months to make.
When minecraft first came out. Building was set to just the bare minimum of survival. Until people started building beyond survival and making mods just to make these tasks easier, so maybe they focused on building instead of surviving.

I think what Minecraft is trying to do is expand on each thing evenly wether it's survival or building. They did pretty good on the building part, why not expand on the survival part to where it actually satisfies the masses(the gamer masses, I'm not talking about builders who can't handle tactical challenge).

I don't suppose it's worth reminding you that Minecraft is a sandbox in which everything you do is completely optional. Without armor the damage that monsters do to you is still the same as it was in Beta. If armor is so OP, then don't use it. It doesn't really need to be fixed for that reason. I won't object if Mojang does something about it and either adds another difficulty level, nerfs armor or modifies the existing difficulty levels.
If you're concerned that Minecraft is too easy, then so what? It's always been too easy. If you just wanted to survive on hard all you have to do is stay in your house all night and only go out during the day. Dig yourself a mineshaft and light everything up with torches instead of exploring caves. There, you survived on hard with a minimum of effort. You could always do this even before armor got the buff.

Fair enough, but to call it "unbalanced" assumes that the primary focus of the game is combat. Again, as with bugs, it's up to the developers to decide not only on the intended mechanics but they also decide on the general focus of the game. The "Adventure Update" made it pretty clear (to me, anyway) that exploration was to become the new focus of Minecraft, whereas previously the community was pretty split between building, survival and combat as to what should be the future direction of Minecraft.
While you are free to offer your criticisms it comes to a point where you must accept that what you want from the game and what the developers want may be entirely different things. The only real solution is to create your own game, like FortressCraft and Terraria have done as Nimesia intends to do (not to bring up any debate about how those games are like or unlike minecraft, or their future direction, I simply bring them up as examples of different takes on a central theme - FortressCraft is pretty much a straight clone, Terraria focused more on combat and dungeon-crawling-like experiences, Nimesia is hoping to capture a segment of the Minecraft fanbase that feels disenfranchised by recent changes).

If you want a challenge a sandbox game isn't going to do it for you. Besides there are many mods that make entities stronger.
No thanks. I don't believe in creating artificial challenges for myself in games. I prefer to play them in their natural state. Anyway, how I choose to play the game has nothing to do with the problem we are discussing.
If you're concerned that Minecraft is too easy, then so what? It's always been too easy.
I don't agree, but that's beside the point. The fact that armor is "overpowered" is not the problem in and of itself. If Mojang has made a conscious choice to make the game easier, that's fine. (Though I doubt it was a conscious choice on their part, more likely it's an unintended consequence.)
Let me go back and remind you of my main point... the problem is that difficulty levels are meaningless now. Wearing full armor, there is very little difference in the damage that monsters to do you between difficulties. This surely was not an intended consequence of the armor update.
The result is that there are less options available to the player now. With the old armor system, we had a system where players who wanted more challenge could get it by selecting hard difficulty. Well, for some players it still wasn't hard enough, but at least the difficulty options had some meaning. Now, as an unintended consequence of the armor update, this option has basically been removed. There is no meaningful difference between difficulty levels anymore.
Sure, people can create artificial challenges for themselves, but that's not the same thing as having multiple difficulty levels which many people enjoy. It gives people more options on how they like to play the game. Those options have basically been made irrelevant now. So my question to you, 0wolfblitz0, is why don't you seem to care about that? Yeah, Minecraft is a sandbox game. The more options in sandbox games, the better. Why do you seem to be in favor of less options in Minecraft?
Sure, people can create artificial challenges for themselves, but that's not the same thing as having multiple difficulty levels which many people enjoy.
So, are you saying it's completely up to Mojang to decide what's an acceptable difference between easy, normal and hard? No matter what they do, somebody will have a problem with it. I simply offer up the option that you play without armor. For heaven's sake, you don't even have to wear a full suit of armor. Just use a chestplate or boots and I'm sure you'll be able to tell the difference between difficulty levels.
The entire reason I made my first comment on this stupid thread was because I think the OP went a bit overboard by saying that Minecraft is "unbalanced and boring" just because one element of the game is not to his liking. Seriously, every game I've ever played has one or two elements that I don't like. That doesn't mean the game is "broken". Just use a little creativity to work around it and enjoy yourself.

Armor is so laughably easy to get.
