Amazing.. you find a glitch that no one has ever found... and then knowing that you are the first one to find it and no one will believe you without proof, you decide to take the desition of saying " you will have to trust me, i dont have screens ).
^I believe that is because glowstone is currently treated as a transparent block (like glass), which means it doesn't affect things like chests, redstone, etc.
no glitch.
chests can open into any non-opaque block, and since the chest are non-opaque since the 1.8 update, it makes sense.
This blew my mind. I had totally forgotten that chests don't count as fully opaque anymore. Thank you, sir, you get a +1.
EDIT: err, Suho too. Sorry man.

This forums... what has happened?
I've seen a ton of threads reporting this exact same thing, plenty of people found it. And discussed it already, so no he doesn't need proof it's well-known behavior.
To add to that, this is not exactly a difficult or time-consuming thing to test for yourself. So screens would not be needed either, just the details on how to replicate the 'bug'. Screens are only needed if it's complicated, strange, or something not easy for others to replicate... in which case a video is better.
Fun fact: You can place stairs above them and they'll open as well. Place the stairs facing backwards and it'll look like it's opening into a solid block.
I believe it's intentional, and not a bug or glitch.
sorry no screen shots
Why not try it for yourself? It's not like it's at all difficult to test.
This forums... what has happened?
ive done it too but it has been known more or less for a while since 1.0.0 first came out
Is it really that hard to accept the idea of possibility?
It's true though, it's a little old (for lack of a better term [aged?]) which makes it weirder it took five posts for someone to say it's real.
Maybe it works for all blocks?
